Though its profile has been steadily expanding over the past few years--a new addition to the front of the museum is currently physically expanding it too--The Brooklyn Museum is still pleasantly uncrowded compared to the Met. And it should be compared to the Met: If it were in any other city in the country, it would undoubtably be one of the chief cultural assets. There is an amazing collection of Egyptian antiquities, and the temporary exhibitions have become must-sees (whether because of controversy or artistic merit, or both).
