As one with an aversion to malls, I find the Galleria a refreshing change from the boring blandness of suburban malls. Most AmeriMalls -- targeted at ""minivan Moms"" and teenage Mall-Rats -- are typically of the same soullessness and tastlessness that defines suburban America (YAWN!). If JCPenney, Kohl's, and WalMart are your idea of a shopping experience -- the Galleria is NOT for you. The Galleria offers a bounty of unique and quality items. The anchor stores (Macy's, Neiman-Marcus, Saks and Lord&Taylor) corral the best variety of quality goods and services to be had in Texas. The mall is constantly in flux -- new stores, renovation, decoration. Every visit is a new adventure. The addition of Nordstrom and Foley's in 2003 will broaden the appeal. The Galleria has survived and thrived the roller-coaster of retail trends for over three decades and will continue as one of America's premier retail emporiums.
Pros: Quality, Uniqueness, Panache
Cons: Holiday Traffic
