Well, finally El Gaucho opened, the restaurant to bring Tacoma to the big time. I think not! Yes it is an attractive space with a smiling and relatively efficient wait staff, however the appetizers are ordinary and expensive, the cocktails seem watery and are expensive, those fabulous ""Prime"" steaks need some more attentive cooks on board to get them cooked right and of course, they are definately not cheap. The wine list is interesting but ridiculously overpriced. If you need to patronize a so called ""swanky"" restaurant and drop a bunch of cash to feel good about yourself then El Gaucho would be the number one choice. Otherwise don't buy in to the hype, go elsewhere, have an equally good time, save a lot of money and you won't feel guilty if you forgot your tux.
Pros: Attractive enviroment
Cons: Expensive, So So Food
