I was recently driving through Northern Michigan from my home in Chicago. After 4 1/2 hours in the car I arrived in a town called Cadillac that had myriad (unappetizing) dining establishments. Since it was getting late, I decided to pull up to a poorly marked restaurant along the main road. I discovered culinary perfection. Although this small-town ""fancy"" restaurant seems staffed with the best Cadillac can offer (read: highschool students), the quality of the food surpasses anything I have ever eaten in cities like New York, San Francisco, Paris, Bangkok, and EVEN CHICAGO! The descriptions of the menu items don't even come close to the delight one experiences from actually tasting the food. The spaitzels are superb, the steak melts in your mouth, the tiramisu is fantastic. DO NOT FORGET TO ORDER SOME MORAL MUSHROOM SOUP! Order a glass of wine for Chef Hermann! Wolfgang Puck should be ashamed.
Pros: Not too crowded, World Class Chef, Fancy but relaxed
Cons: a bit pricey
