Everyone tells me El Arroyo used to be the best Tex-Mex in Austin. I was there a month or so ago and refuse to go back. The margaritas were so-so. The ambience was loud and crowded. I ordered stuffed jalapeños, which looked more like halves of small baked potatoes stuffed with some oily orange cheese-like substance. My friends complained that the tortilla soup was cold. I had the BBQ Chicken tacos, which were almost mediocre. But our waiter was very nice and very efficient.
