Ten Thousand Villages provides fair income to Third World people – mostly women -- by selling their handcrafted merchandise in the U.S. The items (all very reasonably priced) make wonderful gifts – and make a difference!. The stores are also primarily volunteer-run to maximize the amount of money that goes back to the artists and craftspeople in the Third World.
