Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art delivers exactly what you'd expect. It's a little on the small side, but the exhibits are typically excellent - interesting work that is nicely laid out. No surprises with the museum's atmosphere, though I do find it a bit more welcoming than other museums. If you're planning a visit, be sure to consider Tuesday nights, not only for the free admission to the museum, but also the live jazz and drinks out back. In the summer (when not too hot) this provides a nice, relaxing, casual evening out.
