The Desert Botanical Gardens is the best place around to enjoy the variety of beauty the Sonoran desert offers. They have acres of native plants, all beautifully and informatively displayed. There are demonstrations of native life on the weekends and kids will enjoy learning how to make flour with a pestle and seeing how people have lived in the desert for thousands of years.
It is hot and dusty during the summer, so try to go during the cooler months. The admission is a little expensive, so go early and plan to spend the day. There is plenty to see.
