My son is 12 years old. I signed him up for guitar lessons at Arrow Music to get him off the video games. I have to admit he stills plays them, but it's a lot less than before. His instructor has shown him songs from some of the same games he would spend hours playing, but now he's REALLY playing them on a real guitar. The teacher is also teaching him the rules of music and to read notes the traditional way.
