My worst experience ever with a gunshop was at Guns Galore in Fenton Michigan. I drove there with a friend from Grand Rapids to pick up a Kimber Custom Classic .22 Rifle. I had called ahead to see if they had one and was told they did. I asked if they would put a hold on it as I was enroute and over an hour away. I was told they would do that and they did.
Once I got there I was helped out by a nice guy behind the counter. He handed me the rifle and I looked it over. I looked at it for a few minutes. While fondling it another employee (later I found out that he was the son of the owner. He had long hair at the time) came over from another area of the store and said "let me see that" so I handed it to a him. He never bothered to ask if I was done with it or more importantly, if I wanted to buy the little rifle. He in turn walked over to another customer and handed the rifle to him. Then the other guy bought it. I was in such shock I didn't think to tell the guy that I was looking at that with the intention to buy it. Once I had my stuff together I told the guy that helped me out initially that I had intentions to buy the rifle and I was put off by the other jerk. He said quietly that the jerk was the owner's son and that he was sorry and he offered to order another rifle for me. Because of the long drive I declined and also informed him that I wouldn't be spending my money there because of the behavior of the other guy. He said that he certainly understood and my buddy and I left.
I ended up getting a couple of other Kimber .22 rifles and both of them had better test targets than the Custom Classic did anyway. I go to a lot of gunshops and have bought a bunch of guns over the years but the guys at Guns Galore will never get a dime of my money.
