Useful aids for the visually handicapped 8/17/2005

This bright airy store is a part of what used to be called Lighthouse for the Blind and is now known as Lighthouse Vision Rehabilation Services. It is chockful of neat gadgets to help those who can't see so well - like talking alarm clocks (about $16), big button telephones, playing card holders, large display timers, an array of Good Grips kitchen utensils and magnifiying glasses of various sizes, even one that sits on your chest while you read or knit. They even have recreational items like large print cards, large dice and even big bingo cards as well as large print watches, large pill boxes etc. etc. Any of these devices would make a thoughtful gift. Staff are patient and helpful. more
