I was passing through the area with my 1 YO, who presumably had an ear infection. I made an appointment with this location via online scheduling to be seen, as they are an Urgent Care.
Upon arrival, I checked in, provided my insurance, and was not told anything else. No co-pay (to which I have everywhere else), no notification of a "New Patient Charge." I sat for 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time to be seen by the doctor for 5 minutes in total. He looked at my child's ear and confirmed he had an ear infection and sent us on our way with an antibiotic.
I just received a statement from my insurance that said they charged $460 in total for the appointment. Upon calling to investigate and request an itemized bill (to which I have not received from this location formally via mail). I was notified that it was a new patient charge and there was nothing I could do. The receptionist took my name and number and let me know the office manager would be calling. I plan to call them every hour until the office manager finally does get on the phone.
I contacted the overall billing department and got the same run-around; they forwarded my call to the manager, who sent me straight to voicemail.
I am being forced to pay a "New Patient Fee" by a location who made me wait 2 hours past my scheduled appointment time, to be seen for 5 minutes. No new patient consultation, nothing.
I do not live in this area and will never, ever return to here, or any part of CaroMont health. This is pathetic.
UPDATE: I spoke with the office manager, Lauren Griffin, who claimed this would be escalated. This are supposedly escalated to the director, Kevin Moyer, who deemed this billing of $460 at an Urgent Care appropriate. I have called both and neither have answered a call. DO NOT GO HERE.
