Do not take your loved ones there and ask your loved ones to take you somewhere else if they have time. Most of their ED staff feel as they are better than others. They are rude and spiteful and would rather worry about their love triangles than deal with patients. Especially when dealing with mental health or substance abuse. This ED will not help the individual and will treat them terribly. They would rather send a suicidal person back out on the street than to find them somewhere to stabilize at. They would rather a drug addict or alcoholic die than to stabilize them or find them a detox center. I am absolutely embarrassed that this is the ED in my community. Nurses and doctors are held by do no harm and nursing ethics so there should be no judgement as far as "should" you help them. It is their duty to help them....no matter what you feel. I hope that this hospital loses their staff that are like this. It is sad to say that I send all of my family, friends and anyone I need to Gaston Memorial before there. The big wigs need to look into what is going on with this place and how it is ran. Not good at all.
