I thought I had resolved a disputed transaction on 3/16. almost 3 years later after no notice, nothing sent to the credit bureaus and no contact whatsoever- I find out they filed a claim against me. My husband immediately call to find out what was going on, They told him $200.00 is owed for the 2016 account that I thought was closed. When i call to find out why we owed this, they refused to explain anything and gave me the run around. I called three more times since the person who was suppose to contact me didn't and I was yelled at for 'calling too much." Finally got the attorney and I asked what I needed to do to pay this off, he said 160 and told me he had to verify fee's and to call tomorrow. Some crazy woman called my home around 8pm the same night demanding to know how to get to my home because she had papers, but didn't tell me her name or company, I told her nothing. Then some creepy guy leaves a broken message on my voicemail about how I better get him directions or it will "costs us"- if this was their process server they are beyond creepy, but I have no idea since they didn't tell me who they were. No one will tell me how much I actual owe or why, they threatened me with legal bills if and when we go to court- yet I have no idea why I owe this other than they didn't cash my check in 2016 and left my account open to collect interest, then tried to ambush me in court? They never sent one notice or attempted to notify me that they refused to cash my check. How is this even legal? Why won't they tell me how much I owe? Why does the amount keep changing? Why didn't they notify me I had an open account for almost 3 years? How can they file a legal claim without knowing how much I owe them or allow me the option to pay before they drag me into court, unless the plan was to drag me into court this entire time to get the backlog of interests and attorney fee's because they didn't want to accept my final check? I sincerely feel like I am being scammed. We are going to try one more time to pay off this debt.?????
