My wife brought her 1998 Camry in for an oil change. The technician stripped the oil drain plug. They sealed it up and told her to keep an eye on it. When she told me what happened, we discussed it and decided to offer to pay for the new oil pan and gasket and ask the dealer to absorb the labor cost. They refused. The car was leaking on the garage floor, so my wife took it back and paid to have the necessary work done. They provided a minor discount, but this oil change wound up costing us over $600. They got our money this time, but we will not continue to have our car serviced at Firestone in the future.
