I had the misfortune of dealing with the OWNER Ron on the phone after I was lied to several times by his staff. RON demanded payment upfront, BEFORE starting work. My Home warranty forced me to use Ideal Services when my hot water heater failed. Ideal services wanted 155$ for a 41$ City permit and only let me pull the permit AFTER I confronted his staff, as they hope you will let them pull the permit for an extra 114$. I Confirmed with my City that the earthquake straps could be re used if they were structualy sound. Ron the owner along with his staff said they replace earthquake straps 100% of the time ( their policy ) which conflicts with local law giving the homeowner the option. Ron charges 65$ for earthquake straps that cost 17.99 at home depot. I then asked Ron if I could buy the brand of straps he uses and I will supply the receipt, Ron said "NO". While on the phone with the owner Ron he berated/ cursed/ thrratened me. He told me " Do you know how much it cost to keep the lights on " I then explained to the owner Ron, that I was a retiree on a fixed budget and he had the nerve to tell me " you should have worked longer " and implied I was lazy. During our phone conversation I explained to Ron that a representative from City Hall informed that I had the right to make a formal complaint with the Nevada Contractors board, investigations team. When I advised Ron that I would be filing a complaint he THREATENED me to give up the name of the City employee that explained my right to make a complaint against his contractors license. At first I refused to give up the name and he taiunted and verbally abused me, ( SEE above ) I then approached the City employee and asked they were ok in me giving Ron her name, employee said OK and Ron called the City office and had a conversation. I will be filing a complaint with the NV Contractors board in person by weeks end. To sum up the above:
1) I was forced to use Ideal Services or accept a pennies on the dollar cash out from home warranty CO
2) Unless the homeowner demands to apply themselves for City permit, Ideal Services will up-charge an extra 114$ for obtaining permit
3) Ideal Services doesn't inspect or give the homeowner a chance to reuse earthquake straps and charges 65$ for 20$ straps. Will not match price or allow homeowner to buy their own straps present receipt
4) Will threaten/curse/shame or any other tactic to disuaide homeowner from filing formal complaint with NV Contractors Board
5) Demanded payment upfront BEFORE any work started
6) Office staff will put you on hold for a LONG time
I will be cooperating any way I can with the Contractors board
I will be making a complaint to the BBB
I caution anyone doing business with Ideal Services to be very careful
