No thank you! 5/10/2016

I met Dr. Lane in the hospital and was immediately impressed. Unfortunately, this was the first and last time I saw her. We were bounced around between NPs the whole 8 months we went to this office. We were reintroducing ourselves each visit and giving each new NP his medical hx over and over. At his 3 day appointment I was told by the NP to QUIT breastfeeding because I was starving my child. He had lost a few pounds. As a first time mother I was devastated and quit. I was never offered advice, lactation consultations, etc. Just told to quit. Vaccines were commonly out-of-stock so my son was behind on these. For months we were given rx after rx of antibiotics for an undiagnosed, worsening cough that my son suffered from for over a month. It got so bad he was unable to breathe at times. We were never offered any tests to diagnose it, but instead were given antibiotic after antibiotic. A second opinion at another provider discovered it was viral! The NP that originally told me to quit breastfeeding would ask why I had quit breastfeeding at each following appt when we saw her. I left many appointments crying and feeling like an unfit parent. The final straw was when this same NP came into the exam room where me, my son, and son's father were waiting (my son's father was present at nearly EVERY appt) and looked at my son's father and asked, "Are you the dad?" I thought this comment was out of line and inappropriate. We were never seen at our appointment time. The wait usually was around an hour. Once it was nearly 2 hours. The waiting room is very small and cramped. It's very uncomfortable, especially if there are rowdy children or sick children present as well. Any time I called with a simple question, the receptionist's response was usually "do you want to bring him in?" My question was usually if his symptoms were worrisome enough to merit bringing him in, but the response was always "do you want to bring him in?" I have compared notes with other parents and found that my experiences are not unusual for here. more
