It isn't right to treat people who are trying to rebuild their lives as prisoners. There is a staff member who patrols the residence at night. From her attitude and the way she talks to you, you would assume she was a prison matron. There are double standards. I got in trouble for not wearing shoes when I was doing my chores. The next day, one of the floor managers glided down the hallway with no shoes. I couldn't believe it. The staff seems to forget what is important in recovery. They are all about containing residents, restraining them. I think this is particularly hard for young adults who get minimal exercise and no chance to really blow off steam. From their behavior and the number of young adults that either dropped out or were kicked out, I think the fact that there is basically no exercise is a problem. While they are rigid about managing the current residents, not so much about who they let into the program. This new resident ended up smoking heroin in the shower. I think doctors who recommend Residence XII are just lazy. What about King County Recovery. They are sliding scale. more
