Our high efficiency gas furnace was stopping and starting. From the blinking error code signal on the furnace I identified that it was shutting down because of a blockage in the air intake PVC pipe. There was no obvious blockage – no snow in the outside opening of the pipe that I could see or feel.
Technician Andrew B did a thorough inspection and cleaning of our high efficiency gas furnace. At my suggestion we pushed a plumber’s snake through part of the pipe but encountered no blockage. He suggested that there may be ice or snow blocking the air intake and that we wait till the weather warms up in the next couple days. That gave me the idea that I could force warm air through the PVC air intake pipe using the exhaust outlet on my vacuum cleaner. He showed me where to place the vacuum nozzle, and suggested running the vacuum for about a half hour. It worked!
Andrew was courteous, pleasant, and patiently answered all my questions. I have now had service from a couple American Vintage technicians and am very pleased with this company.
