I was a tenant of JMH for 7 years up until buying a home this spring & if I ever found myself a tenant would happily rent from them again. Expectations & guidelines are clear, fair & reasonable, issues (including emergencies) are addressed promptly, information is easy to obtain. It was also clear to me that they've worked to improve their business over time (e.g. proactively providing information about emergencies, use of email to communicate). Alan works hard to ensure that everything is clear & above board, if you're surprised by something it means you weren't paying attention. They take good care of the property with routines external cleaning, exterminations & similar. Do you get the flexibiliy of renting from an individual owner? (e.g. its okay if you're late on rent once in a while....ability to do partial year lease etc) No, you do not. It is clear that they run things like a company that deals with a high volume of tenants.But what you do get is the security of renting from someone that runs like a business, knowing your needs will be addressed and knowing there is a set process to follow. If you hold up your end of the bargain, you'll be a satisfied tenant. I would guess that those writing negative reviews here found themselves on the wrong end of their agreement and/or are just generally miserable.
