Why pay retail 3/16/2010

I was amazed to find that the publishers actually set prices for books! I'm used to patronizing my local used bookstore where prices are 50%, 70% even 90% off the new price... I thought that's just what books cost! By comparison, B&N charges 4 to 10 times what the local independent bookstore charges for gently-read used copies of the *exact* same book. These guys may be okay for the brand-new release that nobody else has, but for most books I'll wait a few weeks for the chance to save big $$$ at a used bookstore. more
