Did you ever spend a few days as a kid at your cousin's farm? Remember how strange and exciting it was? Doing stuff you never, ever did in the city? Well, that 's what my two 7 yr. olds thought of a week at Dead Broke Farm. Things like chickens not in cages, the earthy smell of lots of horses, the sounds of their horses hoofs on a trail ride, and lots of cats and dogs and more. A little rougher than their normal lives (port-a-potties?) but more robust too. They didn't just ride horses; they groomed them, cleaned their tack, fed 'em and watched them poop. They thought it was great! If your kids can handle an unstructured environment and are willing to try new things, they probably will too. If you expect gleaming tile, fresh paint and hand sanitizer ever time you turn around, this probably isn't your place. If you think it's ok to get some scratches from a tree branch as a way to learn to keep your horse on the trail, well maybe it is. more
