I was 28 weeks pregnant and had a UTI and was in severe pain so I went to the nearest hospital in the area which was Coney Island Hospital ER. The staff that I saw during registration were great and had me quickly evaluated but as soon as I went unto the floor it was quite different. The RN was extremely rude. She told me why don't I go to another hospital or call my OB/GYN. Mind you it was 5am and I was in severe pain. She then placed the Fetal Heart rate monitor on wrong. Instead of getting the babies HR, she was getting my heart rate. I was very uncomfortable on the bed b/c she wanted me not to move half on my side for 30min with the monitor incorrectly gathering data that was in the end invalid. Another nurse came in after 20min to place the monitor correctly. Then a different nurse came to put an iv line in my arm in and on the way to placing it she fell. I couldn't believe my eyes that these people were treating me. Only a few of the staff were kind and the rest didn't have any bed side manor or even introduce themselves to me. I am also in the medical field and would never want to go there again. Only patients who don't have any medical background may think this is a good hospital but the staff i encountered were bad.
