I took a guinea pig to this vet in an emergency situation. It was during standard hours, although on a Sunday.
My guinea pig had become sick during the night. As I had guinea pigs in the past I knew that there wasn't going to be anything they could do, and he was suffering. So I made the decision to have this animal clinic to put him to sleep.
I was very upset so I signed my name on the receipt without even looking at the invoice. I thought the $126 charge was steep, but as i was upset, I didn't take a look at the invoice.
Later that afternoon I decided to find out why it cost so much. I understood the $36 fee for Euthanasia, and the $36 fee for cremation. I even understood the $6 fee for Bio-Hazard, although I thought this would be covered under the cremation cost. What I DID NOT understand was the $48 fee I was charged for an 'Examination Brief'.
This $48 charge was ridiculous! No vet examined my guinea pig. I was the one who told them to put him to sleep. There was no examination involved. I can imagine that the vet spent a total of 5 minutes with my animal. Which is more then enough time to register the shot.
When I was asked if I wanted to watch the process, I said that I wanted to. However the lady at the front desk later came back, and told me that I could watch, but the shot could take a very long time. So I changed my mind because I didn't want to witness that. I was later told by a friend who was a vet that I was LIED to, and that the shot didn't take hardly any time to take affect.
I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT use this vet.
