Until today Gilroys was my first choice for hardware/
supplies. I ran out to get a thermometer for my daughter's science project. It was 4:02 on the clock in my car when I pulled into the parking lot. An employee looked out and pulled the blind that had been up. I got out and it was then that I saw they closed at 4:00. I was two minutes past closing but there were customers in the store. I knocked on the door but they would not reply. I used to prefer this store because of their helpfulness, and because it had a personal touch. I used to silently wish them well when I drove by because I know they have competition and have seen many small businesses fail when larger chains move in but after today I have changed. I went to the chain down the road, the one with more store hours and I was able to get a thermometer there. At Gilroy's they were in the store along with customers but I did not matter to them. They saw me pull up and closed the blind in my face. I am sorry to say that they do not care too much about customer service. It is sad but true. Oh well it seems to be the way of the nation.
