When the businesses moved, and downtown Mansfield lost much of its business, the Town Fathers and Mothers decided Mansfield needed to be renovated, that the downtown area needed to be restored and businesses needed to be coaxed back into Mansfield.
As the restoration started, and the turn of the century buildings began to get face lifts, the Town Fathers and Mothers decided they needed a symbol for this restoration and they looked to a Carrousel to stand as a symbol of their hard work and efforts. The Carrousel was opened in 1991.
The Carrousel attracts a lot of attention and many folks have their kids birthday parties there. Many local organizations offer discounts or special kids days at the Carrousel.
There is plenty of parking and it is a delightful afternoon for the family.
