I was attempting to get notary service for a fairly simple document, and tried the Fedex Office in the same location as the iNational office. I was referred to iNational Closing and Escrow, as the Fedex Office location did not have a notary. I arrived and waited a few minutes for the notary to arrive back at the office. The notary, who is apparently also the owner of the business, was on his mobile phone with his bank (I later learned this when he yelled about why he was on the phone), in what appeared to be a heated discussion.
He walked in quickly and then motioned for me to follow him to his desk. I followed him and while still on his phone he said ""give me your driver's license."" I was confused as I still didn't even know his name, and inferred obviously that he was supposed to be the notary, but was taken aback that he was attempting to transact business with me while his attention was obviously only on his mobile phone. He continued speaking on his phone while motioning with his hands for me to give him my driver's license.
I complied and handed him my driver's license, but was trying to speak to him when he asked if there was a problem. I said ""I am just surprised that you are on your phone."" And he dropped his notary book on his desk, pulled his phone away from his face momentarily and then rudely said to me that he didn't care and I should take my business elsewhere. I said ""are you serious?"" because the situation seemed completely absurd to me, and I have never had someone act so rudely when interacting with a customer. He was obviously in a very bad mood, and stormed away from his own desk into his back office while still carrying on his conversation with his bank.
He then angrily said to me that he was ""trying to run two businesses here and [he] was on the phone with [his] bank."" He then yelled that I should get out of his office before he calls the police (?!). On the way out, while I was trying to understand what had happened, I realized that he must treat a large number of people this way, since I had literally met him 30 seconds before he yelled at me. His staff seemed completely embarrassed and said he wasn't normally like this, but just kept looking back at his back office (now that he was hidden from view) in astonishment.
I was amazed by his lack of professionalism, the degree to which he didn't seem to remotely care about a potential customer long enough to put a call on hold. Obviously his notary business isn't his primary function, but that is irrelevant and now I will be sure to inform friends and colleagues of his abysmal conduct and complete lack of professionalism.
I am a normal, white-collar worker who wanted a document notarized. I can't believe how rudely the owner of iNational acted toward a customer (much less anyone in his storefront). I can't imagine someone attempting to do business with him.
