I would give it 0 stars, if it was an option. Good Customer service is what defines and differentiates a good retail business from a poor one. Zyzyx in Pikesville, MD does not have a good customer service in place. The salesperson could not operate a computer, was rude and disrespectful. Even after I researched and coordinated with an artist to order an item through the store, they refused to honor my store credit for the order. Archaic store policy aside, the salesperson was rude and snippy. Customer service is not their strongest suit. Went to return/exchange wedding gift. We don't live in town and this was our first opportunity to get something else. They were unfriendly, and not at all cooperative or helpful in letting us exchange our gift for something else. Don't ever shop here. They used to be horrible to customers and they still are in their new location. I will never buy anything here and don't recommend you do either. more

Over the years I spent over 2000 dollars at the store on unique and interesting jewelry as well as unusual gift items. What I always found odd was that the staff continually acted rude and distrustful everytime I walked in...it made me not really want to browse. One holiday season they were so unfriendly that I just went to trader joes and bought rosemary trees and food basket items instead. more

Good: I would love to take home everything in the store. The owners and staff are all wonderful people, fabulous customer service-very helpful and accomodating. They will order anything you want, have items specially made up for you. If we can't get there and need a special gift, we can call and know that we will get something beautiful and they will work with our budget.. Bad: I wish it was closer to home for me.. Improvements: I can't imagine.. Other: We travel from central NJ to Baltimore just to shop at Zyzyx. Largest and most beautiful selection of Judaica I have ever seen. Beautiful jewelry and othe gift items as well.We discovered the shop when our daughter was a college student in Baltimore-14 years ago.. more

Great selection of unusual items, but their return policy is the worst. No matter how you pay or how soon you change your mind, you can ONLY get store credit good for one year. They are completely inflexible and have lost many customers, including me, as a result. Go online or to the annual Winter Market in February to find the same merchandise. more

Although they have beautiful items in the store I would not recommend it. Overall they are nasty, nasty people. I purchased a necklace that turned my neck black and all I could get was a store credit. They are presently have an entire store sale (you think they are in trouble??) and I was told I couldn't use my store credit. Have you ever heard of anything so ridiculous. Oh, I'm sorry I could use the store credit but they will not mark the merchandise down, I have to pay full price. As soon as I find something to buy I will use my credit and NEVER go in there again. When you make a purchase they couldn't be nicer but that changes quickly when you make a return. Have a complaint and it gets even worse. Go in there find what you like and I promise you can find it elsewhere at a lower price and with a lot less aggrevation. more

Be 100% sure you want the item before you leave. If you change your mind and return it 5 minutes after you buy it they will only give you a store credit back, nothing else! And if you are one day past the due date they are very inflexible and you just lost your store credit so keep track. They will tell you what you want to hear just so you make the purchase -- take someone with you to get an HONEST opinion. The itmes in the store are lovely, it's the people that work there/own it that I have issues with. As soon as I find something to buy in the reasonable range to utilize my store credit I will never step foot in there again -- you can find the items elsewhere at a lower price! more

An arts and crafts store that specializes in American crafts, Judaica, as well as jewelry, ceramics, blown glass, and handcrafted home and garden accessories with the brunt of the merchandise coming from local artists. Wares range from the chic and elegant to the downright folksy and all are priced towards the somewhat expensive side. A nice place to shop if you're on the lookout for something unique or one of the kind. more

My husband and I went here based on a friend's recommendation to look for a menorah for Hanukkah last year. The collection is really impressive and very expensive for the most part. It was very hard to find something we liked for under $200! For something that sits out for at most 2 weeks, that was a lot to pay. I highly recommend just going there to browse their selection. The people were very helpful and I felt like if we were to invest in one, we would do it from here. more

This is a really cool store to look around in or buy gifts at for someone special. Each piece of work in this store is one hundred percent original. This is the perfect place to go to get a gift for someone who is impossible to buy something for. However, be prepared to spend a good amount of money as most of the items are handmade and one of a kind. more

I came here with my wife browsing and boy did we have a good time. They have such cool wierd and curious things here it can make you go wild. It is too much to even describe the zany selection of gifts and jewelery here. Come here to buy to look or just to have a good old good time. There are so many staff people here to help.
