I've eaten here twice in the past couple of months. The service is good. The food (to me) is average. The pulled pork was dry both times I ate here, although tasty. The fries were great! Pros: Fries, Service Cons: Parking more

There's some good potential here... 7/4/2006

First off, I'm from Texas and I love BBQ. Being from Texas, beef is BBQ and we are pretty particular about it. That being said, I wasn't sure what to expect from the Big Easy's take on BBQ. I had the beef & cochon du lait ("pulled pork") with cole slaw and dirty rice. The meat can dry with sides of sauce, which threw me off a little... meat never comes dry. The beef had a good flavor, but was a little tough. I'm extra critical on that, being from Texas, but it was good. The "pulled pork" I don't really consider pulled pork, more like chunked pork. Regardless, the pork was really good. Tender, moist, and great flavor. My date had the sausage which was the best meat I tried there. The BBQ sauce was excellent. It was sweet with a little kick and brought everything together. The sides were a little disappointing. The cole slaw was almost like plain cabbage and the dirty rice was a little crunchy. Almost like the rice wasn't cooked all the way. The skillet cornbread was OK, nothing compared to House of Blues. They were out of potato salad, which I hear is fantastic. The staff was great, ... friendly and funny. Next time, I'm getting sausage & potato salad. I hear they put some potato salad in their gumbo... I'll try that too. Pros: BBQ sauce, sausage, staff Cons: not BBQ shrimp, BBQ crabs, or BBQ stuffed potatoes more

Unbelievable! 5/2/2005

BBQ Ribs are my favorite food in the world, and Zydecue has the best ribs I've ever had in a restaurant. I was in town for a bachelor party, and we loved the place so much that we ate there twice in 2 days. If you're a rib lover, this is the place to go, but all of their other offerings are great, too. And if you're in town on a Tuesday night, try the all-you-can-eat rib special. Pros: Great food, Inexpensive, Informal more

Yum!!! 3/20/2005

I had the popcorn shrimp in a tabasco/butter sauce ... It was EXCELLENT!!! I was highly impressed with the service and everyone was so friendly Pros: excellent food, great service, friendly staff Cons: hard to find more

Unique & Tasty!!!!!! 1/25/2005

This place has character. Get to know the bartenders, they take great care of you (nothing fancy, though). The ribs are always a great choice, as are the two shrimp dishes (popcorn & barbeque). The boudin balls are addictive and the salads are great. Good spicy fries, too. Service is always quick and food fresh. Just the smell of the place is intoxicating, with their huge in-dining room smoker. Late hours on weekends, too! You'll go back for sure with their great prices. more

This restaurant is consistently absolutely fabulous. I love the Zydecue salad, which can be topped with several choices of meat (I prefer brisket), and the bbq-ranch salad dressing is wonderful! Great atmosphere and a wonderful escape in the midst of the workday..worth a walk in the summer heat! Pros: Affordable, Great food, Upbeat atmosphere more

  • In Short
Jumping and informal, this multilevel nuevo barbecue joint suits its "off Bourbon" environs with a casual, bold atmosphere. Walls are lined with zydeco memorabilia and colorful folk art, while police barricades serve as balcony rails. The menu sticks to lesser-known Louisiana traditions like Carolina pulled pork or Texas beef. The various meats--shredded brisket, rubbed pork ribs, roasted Cajun pork--are served Opelousas style, with onion-flecked red sauce on the side and a slab of cornbread.
