excellent food 3/4/2011

I really enjoy their greek salad. more

Good food and good service 2/24/2011

To my recollection, Zorba is the only Greek restaurant in south Austin. The food is flavorful and the selection is pretty decent (hopefully they will add more exotic dishes with meats like tongue or liver) One thing that I really appreciate is that they serve hot tea with milk, not many places around do that these days. the staff in prompt and helpful as well, I plan on going here again in the future and would recommend it to others. more

Good food, good price. 12/28/2010

Zorba has pretty good food. In the lunchs you could enjoy different combinations and in the afternoon you could order food from a consolidated menu. Food is good and if you like greek it is a good place to go. more

Once A Week For Sure!! 11/25/2010

I am a fan of greek food...I like this place and have been going to this place for 2 years. I like everything on their menu from soups, salads to desert. Food is always fresh, tasty and serving size is enough to eat twice... more

Favorite Greek Place! 4.5 stars if it were possible 2/19/2010

I looooove this place. Consistently great food. I've never had anything bad here. The chicken can be a bit dry sometimes, but the gyro and hummus and falafel are always great. Even the salad and soup are enough to make me go back again and again! My friends and I have been going for over 6 years, and it's always the top of our list. Pros: great food, reasonable prices Cons: they charge for to-go containers when ordering take out more

Horrible atmosphere, ok food 11/3/2009

Just moved here and thought we'd check this place out since we love gyros. Waitress took forever to take our order, high chair for our daughter was filthy. The atmosphere is awful as well. Will keep searching for a decent Greek restaurant. This is not worth it, as it is also not cheap at all. Pros: Good portion, ok food Cons: Not so clean, poor service more

Hands down the best Greek Food in Austin! 1/22/2009

I have been to Zorba so many times, both for lunch and dinner and the food is always great!...delicious, hot simply too good.....HOWEVER there is only one thing abt this place...for dinner the entree prices here at almost 15$....n the ambience is seriously not for a 15$ dish...If they are charging 15$ entree I would have expected decor etc....so for a dinner for 2...be prepared to shell 35$. Pros: Great Food Cons: Poor Ambience, too pricey for dinner considering the way the place looks more

Great food, not the best atmosphere 11/5/2008

Excellent greek food with large portions. The service is generally very quick, but if they get a rush of customers their wait staff tends to be on the thin side. For some reason I always notice that the pita bread is always really HOT. The pastichio is amazing...I just wish they would change up their menu a little bit. They have some entrees listed that I just would never order.\r \r I took off a star because it isn't a good date place. The decor is pretty tacky and the tables/chairs are worn down. I can look past that, but it isn't a place to take someone you may want to impress. Pros: Best greek I've ever had Cons: Cheap decor, sun glare can be an issue more

Great Takeout Greek 8/21/2008

My husband and I love this place for takeout but have never eaten in the restaurant. Their dolmas, tzatziki sauce, hummus and gyros are wonderful and they are consistently delicious! Pros: Consistent food and takeout Cons: Parking more

Great food but.... 8/1/2008

I have tried this place on several different ocassions. The food was great everytime. But the thing that will keep me from going back is what happens consistently: poor service (not enough wait staff) and poor locale. It is located in an udesirable strip mall. It doesnt feel clean. In fact my feet stuck to the floor! Enough of a turn off that we wont return. Pros: Good authentic Greek food. Cons: Poor service and unclean more

Good food, Weird hours, Service is good but crazy around lunch time due to crowds. 10/5/2007

The food is good - not Baltimore Greektown good but good. The service is decent. It's serve yourself during lunch hour but you get waited on during evening hours. \r \r The place closes at around 2:15 for a couple hours. Pros: Food is good Cons: Crowds, location is lacking more

Best Greek food in Texas!!! 7/15/2007

After moving to Austin, we looked for a good Greek restaurant. \r The service at Zorbas is always outstanding. The waitstaff is so attentive and regardless of how busy they are, we never wait more than 10 mins for our delicious food. All the dishes are great, but we love the sampler and vegetarian plates! The baklava is also fantastic!\r We have now become Zorbas addicts and enjoy it at least once a week. If I had my way, I would have 5 it days a week.\r \r Hands down, the best greek food in town!!! more

Large Portion, Yummy! 5/25/2007

I am new to Greek food but after my first try, I really like Zorba. The selection of side dishes is fantastic! The gyro is tasty and addictive! I try to control myself to go there too often because the food is way too awesome. Pros: Big portion, tasty, wide selection of side dishes Cons: lunch crowd more

Always a Good Experience 1/10/2007

My husband and I adore Zorba's. We've been eating there for two years, and we go at least once a month. A very casual, almost cafeteria-like atmosphere, but the food is delicious. Try the Pastichio or the Gyro Plate--pure heaven. Don't forget to bring a bottle of wine with you; Zoba's doesn't have a liquor license, but will be happy to provide wine glasses. Pros: Affordable, great food, good service Cons: lacking ambience more

Disappointing First Try 10/15/2006

My husband & I read all of the reviews & decided that we must try this place. He did not like the ""to go order"" experience- he felt rushed, Maybe that was our mistake. Perhaps trying the buffett first would have been a better idea. I love dolmas so my husband ordered two dozen. I tried to eat one, but the grape leaves were extremely stringy. It felt like I was chewing on dental floss. The flavor of the filling was good so I decided to cut a couple open. I didn't know that some put meat in dolmas. They were not a success with me. We called ahead and asked if they had falafels- we didn't realize that you had to make your own falafel sandwich. We may return, but now I know what to avoid. more

Best Greek Food in Austin 2/6/2006

Love this place.... Especially the dolmas! we often get two dozen to go and just live off them over the weekend... ... tried two Greek restaurants, one in the downtown area and one in Cedar Park, but hands down, Zorba is the best Greek in Austin! more

Zorba's Rocks !!!! 8/28/2005

We went to Zorba's on Sat. Aug. 27th at about 3:00 p.m. and while the lunch buffet was over at 2:15 p.m. we were glad we were waited on by Monica. She was the best waitress we have ever had. She was so attentive and worked so hard and fast we were exhausted just watching her. The food was OUTSTANDING. We had the Feed Me Plate and the Zorba Chicken Salad they were both fantastic and the pita bread was great. The Baklava was the BEST we have EVER had ANYWHERE. Everything was so flavorful & fresh tasting, it was beyond compare to any Greek food we had tasted. Pros: Fantatstic Food, Great Service, Outstanding Value more

Best Greek food in Central Texas 7/12/2005

Zorba is a great little restaurant and no one should be turned off to the fact that it's in a strip mall because the food is great. Having lived in Greece a little while, it's exciting to finally find a place relatively nearby that has food that is almost as good as you get over there. It's also great because you can bring in your own wine if you choose. more

Awesome Greek! 6/15/2005

We've been going to Zorba for about a year now. It's the best Greek we've found. The prices are great & the food is always fresh. The chicken is some of the best, the rice is always just right, & the hummus is creamy & seasoned to perfection. The vegetarian plate (my favorite) offers a great variety of dishes - we never leave hungry. They even have a very reasonably priced kids menu offering pizza or a hearty helping of chicken & rice. Pros: good value, kid-friendly, great waitstaff Cons: a little small more

Best Baklava Around! 5/15/2005

My friends and I started going to Zorba several years ago when they opened. They have changed very little since opening, which is good! Why try to improve on perfection! I've had everything on the menu and you can't go wrong. Their baklava and hazelnut coffee are to die for! Only complaint was last time I went (about 1 week ago), there were some new waitresses. I'm sure they were trying to be helpful, but were actually condescending when explaining menu items and ""traditions"" to my husband's parents. Unfortunately because of that, I doubt they'll be going back. It was upsetting especially since Zorba used to have some of the best service around. Pros: Baklava, Parking, Inexpensive Cons: Condescending Waiters more
