There are many places that claim to be 'authentic', especially on Federal Hill, but this place truly is. Having lived in Rome for a number of years I can tell you that the pasta and entree's here rival my favorite Roman tratorrias. The pizza is thin crusted and slightly chewy, cooked in a wood oven and simply delicious. Probably the best in the north-east. The pasta is actually al-dente, the sauces simple and very tasty. I ate al-fresco here in September, the front windows open up to a flower-covered front and sidewalk, very european. They apparently grow their own tomatoes on the roof during the summer and the ""rooftop caprese salad"", made with brandywine variety tomatoes (so the waiter said), was amazing. The interior is modern and lively, if a bit loud, but very warm. Definately NOT your ""typical italian restaurant"", this place must be experienced. Fantastic service as well.
Pros: incredible food, great wine list, cocktails, al freco dining
Cons: parking (but free valet), street a bit noisy
