Best

My review is based on a walk-in visit on a Saturday night. I feel it's necessary to post after reading the bad reviews here. My boyfriend and I rarely make reservations, which...

My wife and I have eaten here twice. On both occasions we were extremely dissatisfied with the service. The food and ambience was splendid. However, our servers were dreadful; amo...

Style not Snooty 12/23/2002

A very nice restaurant one of the places in the cities where you can make an evening as expensive as you want but don't have to break the bank if that doesn't suit you. The menu has an array of pasta's, pizza's, steak's and other entreas. The only complaint would be that the appetizers are overpriced by a few dollars. Other than there were no other problems. Curteous wait staff and very classy but relaxed atmosphere. A good romantic place to dine. Pros: Menu Selection, Romantic, Ambience Cons: Appetizer Price more

C'est Tres Bon! 12/3/2002

I was so impressed with my whole experience! I took my boyfriend out for his birthday and we had incredible food, and the service was fabulous. We didn't feel rushed or bugged by our server. I highly recommend going there if you want a romantic night out! Pros: romantic, incredible food, quiet Cons: a bit pricy more

overpriced ambience 11/15/2002

I think you are paying for the frills. To feel like you are in a cool hot spot, when you are really crammed into a small space to sit, have to talk real loud over the noisy people and the food is not so extraordinary it just looks that way. Prices reflect the area you are eating in. more

trendy place where former rockstars hang 11/8/2002

The restaurant is elegant and definitely a good date place. The food was very good, but the portions are small and the price was high, so I don't think it's a very good ""value"", especially if you're hungry! They also need to expand their entree options. They have good martinis - try the key lime. The service was slow - but that was due to the former 80's rockstar sitting next to us who later came over to chat and brought us drinks. The wait staff (and customers!!) were very friendly. The guys next to us gave us some of their dessert! All in all, one of the best times I've had so far in Minneapolis. Pros: elegant, romantic, ambience Cons: expensive, small portions more

HOT! 10/19/2002

This is a great place to go to start a night off in Mpls right. We frequent the bar, where chocolate martini's are made deliciously, and the margarita pizza is mouth watering. The male bartenders seem to bend over backwards for their female customers...they know how to work it!! Pros: friendly bar staff, great ambiance more

great 10/13/2002

nice place to go! Food was excellent, would definitely recommend to all to try it out at least once if not twice more

Great 9/19/2002

I dine at Zelo every time I come to Minneapolis and it never fails to disappoint. All staff are friendly and knowldgeable about the products and they will always make you a special order. The ambience and decor are great, and the chocolate molten cake for desert is to die for, and I have yet to find a better one anywhere in the country. Pros: Quality, Service, Selection more

Great Apps; Poor follow-up 8/25/2002

My wife and I have tried a few places around the world before settling in MN, so maybe our taste buds are spoiled...anyways, great night out, excellent service and ambience. I thought that the Apps were 10 but, alas, really poor entrees. I would give it a six! more

From beautiful chefs comes beautiful food, Zelo is a perfect choice for a romantic dinner. more

great experience! 8/14/2002

Even merely having lunch, the atmosphere, service and food at Zelo were phenomenal. I highly recommend it! more

Eat, Drink, and Be Scene 8/12/2002

Favorite lunch spot Downtown MPL (inside and/or outdoors)...finally a restaurant w/ good food that ranks up there with trendy places in Chicago, LA, and New York! Tomato basil soup with house bread (and salad) makes for a delicious, affordable lunch. Excellent service! Love the walley sandwich and chicken sandwich also. ""Be scene"" when you enjoy drinks and apps after work weekdays AND weekends, especially the wonderful calamari. Great place to dress up for versus the zillion ""beer bars"" a few blocks away. Bar area is swanky with tall ceilings and beautiful drapes. Must admit that it seems a bit pricey for dinner for so-so pastas, although the wonderful decor amongst the three rooms (two dinner areas and one large bar area) makes up for it. Tables near kitchen seem a bit loud for a nice dinner out -- request a table elsewhere. Great place to eat, drink, and be scene! Pros: Trendy crowd, Attentive waitstaff, Great Decor&Location Cons: Crowded bar area, Loud tables bykitchen, Pricey Pastas more

Trendy & Quick 7/30/2002

It's all in the details. Outstanding appetizers (so far we've tried the calamari, tuna roll, prawn tons, bruschetta and baked spring rolls.) Excellent seafood. A prompt server. Attentive bus-people. The fact I was offered a black napkin to cut down on lint on my black dress pants (versus the regular white one). Great cocktails. Heck of a decor. One of my favorite restaurants to take out of town clients and guests Pros: Fashionable, Outdoor seating, Great bar Cons: Pricey more

Posh meets Cool Comfort 7/23/2002

There is a slow hum in the air as downtown white collars meet and greet in this dimly lit, posh watering hole. A subdued elegance greets you as you walk in the door. The long cherry bar is lined by all those crisp looking suits, ties, lipstick applied and ready to consume shiny cosmos, micro's, and the occasionaly G&T. Bartenders banter with you about the latest baseball scores or Congressional hearings. Have a snack while you see and are seen. Great atmosphere for a first date or pre-theatre apertif. more

Best VIP spot 7/21/2002

This is the place to go for business, pleasure and personal. You see very interesting people too. more

Divine! 6/27/2002

We ate at this restaurant looking to dine elegantly before devouring Dollar Dome Dogs at the Twins game. This restaurant was excellent. I had the Tuna and it was PERFECT. My Fiance had a pasta, and he loved his as well. We also enjoyed Gelato for dessert. I am young, and I don't like to be talked down to or treated snobbish when I go into a fancy restaurant. Zelo's was anyting but snobby. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. I would go there everyday if I could afford it. more

A perfect 12 6/11/2002

My wife and I came to the Cities for our 2nd anniversary. I wanted to take her someplace unique, and Zelos was the place! The waiter was very helpful, and did a great job recommending something for those of us who weren't familiar with the menu. The food was delicious, and the price was better than expected. I'd happily recommend Zelos for anyone looking for a special place to spend a romantic evening. more
