Wonderful, Unique Selection 4/25/2012

I was visiting my daughter in Baltimore last year and was able to walk around the city during the day while she was at work. I stumbled across Zelda Zen and was immediately drawn in. I love jewelry and they have an amazing selection in all colors. I bought a necklace and bracelet set the first time I went in there and have gotten so many compliments on it. Since then, I have been back multiple times (my daughter even got me a pair of earrings last mother's day because she knows how much I love their stuff). The last time I was there, I was able to purchase these unique blue serving dishes which were a perfect match in color for what I needed for my daughter's upcoming bridal shower. The owner, Beth, even threw in a free small dish as a token of appreciation for my business. I would definitely reccommend this shop to anyone looking for jewelry or unique keepsakes. more

AMAZING PLACE TO GET WEDDING JEWELRY! 4/25/2012

I live in the Federal Hill neighborhood and am getting married in June. I wanted to find some unique jewlery for my bridesmaids, as well as, bridal jewelry for myself. I had gone to a few bridal salons to no avail because I thought most salon jewelry was extremely overpriced (sometimes even cheap looking). I came across Zelda Zen and was extremely impressed with their selection. Not to mention, their prices are EXTREMELY reasonable. I was able to purchase my bridal jewelry that very day (I had my first dress fitting the next day and was so happy to have my jewelry there to see with the dress). The owner, Beth, was extremely helpful. She helped me pick things out and try things on. Her knowledge was even more valuable as I didn't exactly know what I was looking for. As for my bridesmaids, I had 11 girls in my bridal party. She helped me pick out jewelry she had in the shop and then custom design it to my wedding colors. She went to NYC to get the jewelry for me and then brought it back to the store. She EVEN gift wrapped each girls jewelry using ribbons that were my wedding colors. I couldn't have been happier with my experience at Zelda Zen. I am so please with all of my jewelry purchases! I would reccommend them to anyone looking for wedding jewelry. more

i visited zelda zen on a saturday while entertatining a friend from ohio.WONDERFUL stuff there! i did not make a purchase at that time, however once i got home there was a cutting board i had seen that i just could not get off of my mind.i traveled back to Zelda Zen that following Monday and to my dismay, the shop was closed. Not a big deal except for the fact that i have no car and i live in lochearn. Also, there is no sign telling me, or anyone else, when i can come back. I then take measures to find the phone number hoping that even though the store is closed, there should be an answering machine telling me it's hours. There was not. Please consider to be considerate of those who are not your friends and don't know your schedule. If i ever make it back in i would probably give 5 stars. My mom missed out on a great birthday gift Pros: great inventory Cons: can't get in to purchase more

Zelda Zen - Chic Inspiration - Personal Touch 12/30/2008

Talk about customer service...Zelda Zen, in lovely Federal Hill, takes the concept to a new level. Beth learns her customers...their likes and dislikes. She has a keen knack for knowing what looks best on you or what little affect would add the perfect touch to a room in your home?just the thing, just the scent?just the card?the perfect gift for any occasion. She is sweet, compassionate and too funny for words. \r \r And, to top it off?for me, she has picked me up?driven me to her shop, bought me a chilled beverage, given me suggestions, helped me make the perfect decision?and driven me home. She, and her exquisite taste, was a major highlight of my daughter?s wedding. PURE CLASS... Pros: Personal attention - discriminating taste Cons: No in-store restaurant more

Worst experience at Zelda Zen 12/11/2008

I had the worst experience at Zelda Zen. To top it off?I dealt with the owner of the shop, which only makes it worst. I was thinking about getting some pieces of jewelry from Zelda Zen. I met with the owner of the shop one time before during that meeting she seem to be very busy with other things and never really made the time to actually sit down and talk with me to see what I would like. I had asked her if she did custom orders, she said they did, she said she goes up to NY all of the time and will look for something I might like. I clearly told her I wasn?t 100% sure I was going to buy anything from her as I was still pricing around and just wanted to get an idea as to what she can offer. After not hearing from her for months, I wanted to personally come by and tell her I have decided to go in a different direction with ONLY SOME of the pieces and that I would STILL like to get some other items from her!! However, before I could even finish talking, she got very upset and got out the paper with my name and info on it and threw it at me. Then she ran out of the store yelling at me that I wasting her time and money. Even though she NEVER bought any jewelry for me! I had asked her to please calm down and let me talk, then SHE called her self the ?B? word, which I told her I never called her that to please stop being so dramatic. I mean, this was Crazy? she was acting SO unprofessional!! I was very shocked that a Business Owner in these hard times would Act so unprofessional. I mean, in my business when people told me that they weren't going to move forward with me for whatever reason, I was ALWAYS professional about it!!!! As a professional business person should. Pros: NOTHING more

A Beautiful Gem in Federal Hill 11/16/2008

I have had the privlege to work for Beth Hawks at Zelda Zen for the past year and a half. For 4 years prior to that I was (and still am!!) a loyal customer. The reason I wanted to work with Beth after I retired was because Zelda Zen was my favorite boutique in Baltimore. Everytime I would shop at Zelda Zen I would leave feeling so happy. Working there is so much fun and I have met so many wonderful people. Everyone who comes in looks for Beth!! Beth treats every customer like a friend and gives the most personalized, professional service I have ever seen. She has the most amazing items at affordable prices. She will go out of her way to find the perfect jewelry for your every occasion - from birthdays to weddings. Don't miss this beautiful gem in Federal HIll. more

Always Top Notch Merchandise and A Lady With An Eye For Helping Pick Out The Perfect Gift! 11/16/2008

For me, it's a no-brainer on where to go to find the perfect birthday or Christmas present for the special women in my life: Zelda Zen!\r I've been shopping there for years and aside from the wonderful selection of perhaps the most beautiful and afforable jewelry in the Baltimore area, it's always a treat to simply walk into this lovely, welcoming store and share some good conversation and laughs with Beth, the hip, stylish owner of Zelda Zen (named after her late pooch, Zelda, whose portrait hangs on the wall over the cash register)! Beth has quite a knack for being able to pick out just the right gift. Tell her a person's hair or eye color, skin tone, and she'll pick out the perfect necklace or earrings...as if the gift recipient was there in the store! Beth hasn't failed me yet and she can also help you decide on a wide array of purses (I bought my step-daughter a gorgeous, red purse three years ago and she still raves about it), scarves, candles...and one of a kind baby accessories. \r In a nutshell, you're not going to find this kind of merchandise or one-on-one service at the mall!\r And while I love visiting Beth and her beautiful Federal Hill shop...I just wish there could be a Zelda Zen across the Harbor here In Fells Point! Pros: It's like having your own, personal shopper at Zelda Zen! more

Local Artist who loves Zelda Zen and the Owner 11/16/2008

I am a local craftsman and I paint ""Hon"" ornaments for the holidays and Beth sells a ton of them for me at Zelda Zen! She is a top notch woman first, business owner second; she says what she means and means what she says kinda gal. Beth's business continues to flourish in these tough economic times and in a store that has less square footage than my bedroom- because she is great with her customers. She truly cares about each one and it shows- she also cares about the Historic neighborhood of Federal Hill and does all that one woman could possibly do to keep it nice, clean, and safe. There aren't many folks left that support local artists, go out of their way for customers, sweep the sidewalks, say hello, run off the bad guys, pay their taxes, put fresh water out for the local dogs that stroll past, run a funky eclectic store with affordable, hip merchandise, smile at you, and always have a hug available 24/7. Zelda Zen and it's owner Beth... rock! They are a gem for Baltimore ! Pros: hip, contemporary jewelry and art Cons: wish it was bigger! more

rebuttal of ""worst experience"" at zelda zen 11/16/2008

Hello, I am the owner of ZELDA ZEN. I want to rebutt the previous entry from an unsatisfied ""customer!""\r One word: bridezilla!\r I have supplied hundreds of bride-to-be's with beautiful wedding jewelery for themselves and their entire party & until this girl ""sauntered"" into my shop....I have never had any issues!!! I have photo album's filled with gorgeous pictures from the weddings and Thank You notes that I cherish from all the brides or from their Mother's.\r This woman had a ""limited budget"" for 3 pieces of jewelry per attendant & I had spent numerous hours in NYC trying to find ""just the perfect pieces @ the perfect price point.\r Never did she mention that she was looking elsewhere... God help the next small or large business that has to deal with this girl.\r Time is precious and in this world and in this economy...time and money are precious and MY word is gold. I will search high & low to make your special day perfect........\r shame on her......she also lied about the time frame, I had just met with her (& yes, gave her one on one time) in October. The wedding is not until April 2009......\r I did not listen to my inner voice.......when I first met with her...I knew it was going to be a challenge and satisfying her would be nearly impossible!\r I am thrilled to be free from that responsibilty.....God will provide 10 great bride-to-be's to counteract this one hideous experience. Pros: fantastic customer service more

What a GEM 11/16/2008

Wow, what a place. I am living in San Francisco and was visiting friends in Baltimore and my friend took me to this little gem of a place. Firstly you walk in and are welcomed by the staff or the owner (which never happens in SF, no one even says hello when you walk in a store!!), which feels so welcoming. Secondly the store looks amazing, such great use of displays to fit all the beautiful items in the space. Thirdly, the range of items they have, from inexpensive costume jewelry to some pricier pieces that are to die for. My absolute favorites are La Vie and Liz Palacios. But it is not only jewelry, they have the cutest range of baby gifts, candles, frames, wall art, lots of gift items and handbags. \r The owner Beth was so nice to talk to, she looks at you and knows what will look good on you. I am usually very reserved with my jewelry, but she put this gorgeous big La Vie pacific opal bracelet on my arm and it was like it was made for me. I would not have picked it out for myself but I bought it and it gets more comments than anything I own. \r The review by SSBaltimore saddens me. I found this place to be 5 stars all the way. My friend got her wedding jewelry there and saved a ton on money and got beautiful pieces for all her bridesmaids as well as her tiara and jewelry. The tiara she got for around $40, it was almost exactly the same as the one they wanted $250 for at the bridal store! Beth worked closely with her to make sure she was happy and packaged it up beautifully (you need to go and check out how cute everything is bagged for you) for all her bridesmaids. I could go on and on, I think this place is great and definitely worth checking out. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Range of items, welcoming, great prices more

Best Boutique in Federal Hill, if not Baltimore 3/16/2007

Zelda Zen is fabulous little boutique in the heart of Federal Hill. The store carries trendy costume jewelry, purses, cute baby gifts, handmade cards, and knick-knacks for your home. Best of all, the store and its owner, Beth, have been continuously featured in Baltimore Magazine's Weddings issues. They have AMAZING bridal accessories for ridiculously low prices. Whatever you want, Beth can get you with a little time and for next to nothing! I bought all of my bridal accessories, as well as bridesmaid & mother of the bride jewelry there. It's the store I stop at for that special occasion. My friends can tell they're getting a gift from there, just by the telltale brown bag, colored tissue paper & fancy ribbon. I LOVE ZELDA ZEN! Pros: personal service, trendy & classy items Cons: there is only one of these places! :) more
