We read about this place on THIS SITE after wasting money for two decades in Fremont and Pleasanton (don't get me started) on mediocre food and service. What a pleasant surprise! Simple setting, but the best sushi that I've had outside Japan. Their prices have gone up lately, but is totally worth it, especially when compared to Pleasanton prices.\r \r Before Yuki, we'd never found 5-star hamachi in the East Bay. 9 visits out of 10, Yuki has been that good. Why am I telling everyone about this? I should keep this little treasure to myself! Okay, forget I said anything. more

I can't explain the experience of the one and only negative reviewer below . . . but everyone else gave it glowing reviews. Simply put, this place is awesome. The best sushi in the Bay Area - no doubt about it! The Owner is a friendly older gent and he always makes you feel welcome. The fish is fresh and the pieces are big. The place is small inside - can get a little crowded - but very nice. Whenever I have a date and she says ""Let's go out big tonight, let's go Fremont-style baby! "" (happens all the time, trust me) this is where I start out the evening. Service is super friendly but it can be a little slow especially when it is crowded. Check it out! more

I had been reccomended there by a friend. Sadly, this was the last time I would ever take advice from her ever again. She raved about how great and fresh it was, it was far from it. I was seated at the bar, to my dismay the chef told me I could not order peice by peice. And that I had to write down what I wanted on a peice of paper and he would serve it to me all at once. While, it was an inconvience; it was still somewhat understandable. I remember the first thing I had was the magaru and I must say it was good. However, it went all downhill there. The low point in the night was when I recieved a cut of sake, and it was still frozen - there goes the whole fresh theory. I highly would not reccomend this restauraunt to anyone. This is the only Japanese Restaurant we will go within the tri cities area. Their daily smoke fish and monk fish pate are the best. more

After reading some of the reviews I wen t to dinner at Yuki. I was pleasantly suprised with their quality of food. I was born and raised in Japan so I think I know how Japanese food should taste! :) It is a small restaurant but I like it not being so large. Nice sushi bar, too. Try it, you'll like it... Yuki is a small place but serves excellent quality sushi and other Japanese cusine. The service is great and the people working in the restaurant are friendly. I heard that some native Japanese travel all the way from the South Bay just to visit this place to get authentic Japanese food. Yuki's price range is a little bit higher than others, but their food is fantastic. Remember to try their chiraci. As far as I'm concerned, Yuki is much better than the over-rated Ebisu and other well-known Japanese restaurants.
