Yuba County Animal Control

This Place id AWFUL!!!!! While we were in the middle of moving someone broke into our house and let my 13 year old rott/lab mix escape. As soon as we realized she was missing we called the shelter and gave them all her info, we explained that since we were moving the number on her tags was wrong we gave them the number that was on the tags as well as the new number a thorough description and all her information. We also put up several lost pet ads on Craigslist. This was SIX days ago we have called them since then and asked and we were told by more than one person that no dog matching her description or with those tags had come into the shelter. Today I called again since I was starting to get very desperate and was told that yes she had been there all week but they had put her down this morning.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was told that there was no record of us calling which is ridiculous because we called several times over the week I have been working past the times that they were open and wasn't able to go in person but was going in today since this was the first day I was able to. \r THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD SEEN THE CRAIGSLIST AD !!!! They thought she was the same dog since her tags and collar and name were all the same but they never called me. My heart is broken and I am begging anyone who reads this to never, never give these people any business. more

This was my first and last expierence with any animal control center. Yesterday early afternoon my dogs got out of our yard and got picked up by a neighbor and taken to Yuba County Animal Control. Before they had recieved our dogs I called and filed a report with them, so that if they had any calls regarding them they would call me and notify me. About 4 hours after filing the report with them I called back to see if they had heard anything and of course they did, they had gotten a call about them 30 min. before I called. Instead of giving the person my number, or them calling me themselves, they went and picked them up. When I called, the lady I spoke to said I did not have any reports for them on file. It was 4:00 and she told me that they close at 3:30 but they are there until 5 but we could not get our dogs until the next day. She said they open at 8am and fees have to be paid by 1:30, so I was there to get them at 10am and the same lady I talked to on the phone the day before told me I could not take my dogs home until around 3:30, and then tried to tell me that she told me that on the phone the day before and she did not! The employees working at the front desk were VERY rude. When we got our dogs home they both went to the bathroom MULTIPLE times in 5 min and drank more water then we had ever seen them drink before, not to mention our smallest dog had a spot on his lip were you could tell he got into it with another dog. I believe this place did not let our dogs outside and did not give them any water the whole time they were there. I had the intention on taking a look for another dog to add to my family,however I was so upset with the staffs rudeness and blatant disregard for my pets wellbeing that I didn't want to give them another penny of my hard earned money. I loathe this place with a passion. In the future I will take my business else where and suggest that you do the same. more
