I was so stoked with the tattoo Julie did for me! First off, let me say that I'm not a 'tattoo person'. I have an MBA and a professional job, and I'm not into the tattoo scene or lifestyle. In my younger days, I got a tattoo that I can say didn't turn out so well. After I had the tattoo removed via laser removal (big mistake...should have gotten a cover up instead), the removal process left some severe scarring. I never again wanted a tattoo, but was very unsatisfied with the scarring and white outline of the removed tattoo. It was very embarrassing for me, such that I was uncomfortable without my shirt on. I did lots of research on 'cover up' tattoos and tattooing over scars on the Internet, found Julie and felt that she was the best person for the job. And, man, I'm glad I chose her! She knew exactly the technique to mask the old tattoo/scarring. I would say that she is an expert in this field and she should definitely market herself as such. She was confident (even while I was nervous as to what to expect) and patient with me. Also, as far as design, she took my ideas of what I wanted and developed the custom artwork, all at no additional charge. She spent lots of time with the art, going thru a few revisions before we settled on the final design...I just gave her ideas of what I wanted and she interpreted it PERFECTLY. The tattoo covers up the old scar/tattoo so well, it is completely masked and not visible to anyone, even myself! Julie is truly an artistic person. I couldnt have ever imagined it would have turned out as good as it did! I would also add that her price was very reasonable! I'm not necessarily a person who writes reviews, but for Julie, I am more than happy to do so. I hope her business thrives and would encourage ANYONE to go see her if they've ever wanted or needed a tattoo, cover-up or otherwise. Don't even think about going to someone who is not highly recommended...this is your body and the art is PERMANENT (don't ever count on laser removal to fix things!). Only go to someone that comes highly recommended like Julie. I should also say, don't feel threatened or uncomfortable with the tattoo parlor surroundings..I'm a conservative, Republican person, and tattoo parlors are somewhat out of my comfort zone (probably because of my experience when I was younger) but I'm so very happy that I went to Julie. Everyone was nice and encouraging through my 4 hour experience in tattoo land. I was asked in the beginning if I were to need a break(s) just to say the word. I wasn't rushed or forced to talk, I was in somewhat control of this experience. It was nice, I will definitly go again. The body peircer was very knowledgable and straight forward also. YONI TATTOO is the best place that I have ever had a tattoo done at. Julie, (the owner) was very friendly as I waited in the lobby for my artist Sin to arrive. Sin's work is AWESOME, he and I discussed football matches (soccer) as he kept my mind off of the tattoo. Everyone in there is friendly and very down to Earth. I just got my first tattoo today at Yoni and I couldn't have had a better experience! Julie, my tattoo artist, was very professional and knowledgeable about her tattoo art. Her friendly attitude helped calm my nerves while her conversation kept my mind off of the pain. She is artistically blessed and if you have any doubts, you need to check her portfolio! I am very happy with the results and I can't wait till the healing is over! Pros: I loved looking at all of the artwork and the painted walls. It adds so much to a place! I have been a customer for about three years, and every time I have work done, I am utterly awed by the results. You need to go there if you are looking for the finest artists in L.A. Julie is absolutely amazing at custom work, including cover-ups, Bobby is the MAN for traditional Old School work, Mike is exceedingly talented, and Dave is awesome with custom pieces. Simon is one of the most creative Body Piercers in California, and Sunny is also a very talented Piercer as well. Do yourself a favor if you are looking for the best of the best and go to Yoni. I have been getting tattooed from Bobby for about three years now and he is awesome! I usually go in with some sorry picture that I think I want tattooed. He then preceeds to take my idea and with his artistry turns it into a beautiful one of a kind piece. If your looking to pick tattoo flash off a wall then Yoni Tattoo is not for you. If you want custom made pieces of art then Bobby is your guy. He is an artist first! A tattoo artist like I have never seen before. He is kind and sweet and not stuck up at all. Every time I go out I have someone ask me where I got tattooed. The art work I have is beautiful and custom, and even the most conservative person is in awe. All of my tattoo work is done by Bobby who is now at Yoni. He is so patient, he lets me take breaks during tattooing, he is one hundred percent the artist. And he has given me tips on home care that help my tattoos heal without peeling or scarring and the colors are so intense. I think the colors he uses are so vibrant.
