Perfectly good and reliable service 1/31/2010

I've used Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh at least a dozen times to get to the airport and back and similar trips. It's easy to order a cab, they always show up reliably, you can pay by credit card, they give receipts, and basically do everything I expect from a professional taxi service. During the middle of the night they once showed up within 30 minutes, which is pretty good for PIttsburgh. Not immediate no, but in the US you only get immediate cabs in New York and Boston as far as I've experienced. I'm surprised at how unhappy other reviewers are with Yellow Cab - I have had different experiences. Pros: Turn up on time, every time Cons: Plan ahead, not immediate more

Horrible 9/11/2009

The absolute pinnacle of horrible customer service! Rude, unreliable, untrustworthy, just some of the words to describe Yellow Cab of Pittsburgh. They've gone automated now when you call which is actually a plus since the service is now friendlier with the machine. Of course, then you have to eventually call back and talk to someone because your cab never came. Is it still on the way? Are they not coming? You don't know because the automated machine doesn't give you an ETA. Even if you set a pick up the night before they will be late. If you do happen to have to speak with one of their ""representatives"" they are usually the most ignorrant people the city has to offer and obviously there is no accountability whatsoever for customer service. The cabs rarely come and if they do they are late. The only time they willingly come to pick people up is if it a trip to the airport from downtown which is a big fare. At that point they will rush to your location and almost get into physical altercations with each other over who gets to take the fare. It is absolutely ponderous how they stay in business. Tomorrow will be the fourth time I've used Yellow Cab. I've had them pick me up in Oakland at various addresses and they have always come relatively on time, sometimes early, and have called to let me know they were there. I just called for a 3:45 am cab and that is very early so we shall see how it goes. Usually the drivers are nice but sometimes go the long way to charge more money. I called in an order (they're automated now, yay!) at 10pm on a Saturday night. Since inconsistency is their trademark, I decided to wait out front for a cab that might come in 50 minutes or five. As usual, no one came. I called at 10:40 and waited, as usual, ten or fifteen minutes to get anyone on the line. Since the operators habitually drop calls I pressed ""0"" again each time the line went silent. Suddenly I hear someone yelling at me to ""stop pressin buttons in my ear!!!"" as if I were a child. No Problems, So Far..Keeping Fingers Crossed... 7/14/2008

Tomorrow, 7/15/08 will be my second time using Yellow Cab. The first time was a decent experience. It was in April 2008 and it was also a trip from McKees Rocks to the Airport. I was able to get someone on the phone pretty quickly, although, I did need to call back for something and she was in the bathroom that time!! The first trip, the driver came almost at the requested time. I'm a little worried about tomorrow, however, because he said some drivers don't like to take trips so close to the airport in case they miss one that could be a big tip. Whatever, I still need a ride. I just called at 8:30 for tomorrow morning and she picked up pretty quickly and was very, very friendly. I will have to get back to you if they come and get me at 8am! me and my girl had a great 3 year anniversary at kennywood and it was time to go home and we called yellow cab they told us 20-25 minute wait i called at 9:49pm and waited till 12:30am and they still didnt show up i had to call my mother and wake her up to come get us. she came the whole way from plum boro to get us and made it in 26 minutes wait let me say that again 26 minutes and these idiots at yellow cab didnt even have it dispatched to a driver yet 2 and a half hours from the time i called and it isnt even dispatched are you kidding me your company is a joke and i hope the driver that was supposed to come get us came and wasted his time and gas because u people are pathetic and then to give me an attitude on the phone when i have been waiting for 2 and a half hours screw you your company is a joke and your operators are ignorant so screw you that was the first and last time i will ever EVER try to use your service thanks for nothing Cons: whatever you can think of more

I want to describe a horrible experience that I have had from Yellow Cab Pittburgh. It was Friday February 29, 2008 when I phoned 412 321 8100 to ask for a taxi cab on my home 915 Hamlet Court, Aptt. 22, Monroville, PA 15146 at 12.45 pm. My purpose was to take my luggage to the Monroeville Mall few miles away from where I had booked a non-refundable bus ticket to Philadelphia. I had also booked an INTERNATIONAL FLIGTH the next day Saturday March 1, 2008. A taxi arrived at around 12.50 pm. The driver asked me how much laggage I had etc. I asked him to wait outside my building till I return and he smiled. I went up to my home and returned after a few mintues. I was shocked to see that the driver HAD DISAPPEARED IN THESE FEW MINTUES WITHOUT LETTING ME KNOW ANYTHING. I phoned again and again on 412 321 8100 BUT NO ONE PICKED UP TELEPHONE FOR HALF AN HOUR AND THEN PHONE WAS RUDELY DISCONNECETED. Because of this whole extremely irresponsible behaviour of the Yellow Cab I had missed my bus to Philadephia and hence also my international flight. But some in the building helped us and I could reach the bus and get my interantional flight as well. more

Worst taxi service anywhere!! 10/13/2007

Trying to hire a taxi for a specific time with this company is next to impossible. Once you actually do speak with a dispacher after a looooooong wait time, they are rude and will more often than not tell you that they ""cannot guarantee"" that the cab will show up-so, what's the point. Cabs are quite often late, or don't show. Avoid this company and go with a competitor. How Yellow are still in business is a miracle. Pros: Monopoly from airport, so easy to catch a cab from airport to anywhere. Cons: Very unreliable, excessive wait times, very, very poor customer service. more

This company is horrible. I called once for clients in Moon Township to go to the airport and they came 3 hours later. Silly me decided to give them another chance and called for a cab at 5:30pm for 7:00pm function and they NEVER showed. No call, nothing. Horrible horrible horrible more

I sit at the front desk of a company in Oakland. I call cabs for out-of-town visitors pretty often. Pros: Airport - Fantasitc, Reliable, Friendly (get the direct number, if you can) Cons: Around town - They many not show up. Phone Operators are rude. more

Avoid Yellow Cab 4/30/2006

Coming from Boston, a city with a decent transportation system, it has been a rough period of adjustment here in Pittsburgh. We don't have a car, and often need cabs to get around. Sadly, Yellow Cab has the most cars on the road... I say ""sadly"" becuase they always tell you they'll be 15-20 minutes, but they never arrive on time. Beyond that, I've called at 3pm on a Monday, been told I'd need to wait 15-20 minutes and then waited for over an 90 minutes (calling twice to ask about my missing cab)...Horrible service. Everytime I talked to anyone they blamed other people that worked there... since it obviously isn't traffic at 3pm on a monday. Finally after 90 minutes, I cancelled the cab and walked 15 minutes to the nearest bus stop and caught a bus. Cons: late, never arrived, mis-quoted more
