Throughout high school I went in and out of hair colors and styles. I thrashed my hair; fried, dyed and teased. When I found out I was accepted to a private university I felt it was time to go back to my real hair. After letting my red grow out I found that my natural color wasn?t much of a color. It is a gross, ashy blonde with a hint of dead! Now, if it doesn?t sound like I hated my natural hair, let me tell you... I hated it! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Cindy and Ashley, It felt like I was running into friends that I haven't seen for a long time. Ashley was just getting started with a client, so Cindy walked with me over to her station and sat me down. She asked me all the right questions to determine what I was looking for and then took in to consideration the shape of my face and was able to create a style that looks great and and is up to date as well as making me look a few years younger. This young lady really knows her stuff. As I was leaving Cindy was giving the same great attention to her next client. She is genuinely a good person and it shows with everyone she spoke with during my short visit. I was in town for the weekend and I just happened on this little gem of a salon. I will definitely come back every time I'm in town, otherwise I will make a special trip to have my hair styled by Cindy, as well as the feeling of visiting friends for good conversation and laughs. I walked out feeling 10 times better then I did when I walked in. Thank you Cindy, all my friends and family love the new look. Pros: Friendly, Warm, and Inviting Experience!!!! I simply cannot give a higher recommendation for a full-service salon. I had decided several months ago that I would try XS after meeting one of their stylists--a strikingly attractive woman named Magda--while out shopping. I admired her haircut --mine was waist-length, salt-n-pepper and I was looking for a change. Pros: Warm & friendly staff--Naz & Cindy are wizards Cons: Not a one! more

Richard Vasquez Has been doing my hair since I was sixteen, I'm 39 now. I use to model and he made my dishwater blonde hair into the most amazing natural, california blonde I have ever seen. I recommended him to so many people not just because of the natural look to my hair but because of his attention to detail in his cuts. He make you feel so special and beautiful while in his chair. In my day I have had a lot of haircuts and been to a lot of salons all over the world. Recently, Paris is where I have been getting my best cuts, but Paris we have a problem because Richard Vasquez in Sherman Oaks kicked your ass. Run, don't walk to Richard. Richard is a maestro. He knows hair and he is a perfectionist. I found him when I left my current salon by just Googling salons in my area and his many testimonials pulled me in. I knew he was a genius when he looked at me and I knew he was seeing what he had to work with. You can tell a genius from his ""approach to the green"". He took his time and made my hair bouncy, have movement and super shiny. He spent hours on me and cut my hair damp, dry, fine tuning in the middle of the blow dry and again at the very end. i was thrilled with my hair when he was finished, but he was not and with a few extra swipes with his shaving tool he took my perfect ten hair style to a 20. He blended it and knows what he is doing. He takes your entire look including the shape of your face and skin tone into consideration and gets you looking better than you thought. Hair is the biggest change you can make with out a scalpel and he delivers. I have good hair, but the gray is stubborn and he not only massaged in the color in a way I have never had done he used a different color on the ends as they were darker already and took his time and treated my hair in zones to get it just right. I am thrilled and will be back and his prices are so reasonable. You would think he was giving you a three hundred dollar haircut. Well done Richard. Richard Vasquez has been my stylist FOREVER! I live in Simi but still go to Sherman Oaks to have him do my hair because of the "cutting edge" styles that he does with colour and cut and he is a real cool guy. The salon is modern, clean, and stylish but has a relaxed atmosphere and not pretentious like some other salons. All the stylists and the owner are really cool and friendly. I love going to the salon, getting pampered and feeling and looking like a million bucks when I walk out! more

As a first time client of Richard Vasquez, after only reading numerous wonderful reviews online, I was still a tad nervous to dye my natural blonde hair to a vibrant red. Before we got started he asked questions and really tried to understand my style, maintenance habits all while matching tones of red that would best suit my skin tone. He weaved in 5 different colors into my hair and once the towel was stripped from my head I was thrilled! He gave me exactly the change I was looking for and truly created a work of art. Richard is a very meticulous, precise, stylist and pays close attention to detail. He is very knowledgeable about colour, and is very talented and creative. I feel like I have never had a hairstyle. My hair is medium length, straight, and super fine. I am 26 and have literally never gotten good suggestions or good styling from a hairdresser. I simply have gotten my hair cut and have immediately gone home to wash it and blowdry it myself. i moved to LA a few months ago. I walked into XS salon on a whim after my appointment at another salon was cancelled. I saw ASHLEY. She listened to everything I said about my hair (everything I have always tried to communicate to other stylists). She told me what she thought I needed and said she was going to give it some style. SHE IS MY NEW FAVORITE PERSON IN THE WORLD! I am in shock at how much I love my hair. If you have a stylist, SWITCH and if you don't have a stylist, PLEASE trust your hair to ashley!!! Vasquez is Shear Genius! I love his creativity and enthusiasm and he keeps me on the cutting edge. I?ve lived in NY for the past five years and I have visited many top NYC salons however, none of the colorist can compare to Vasquez. I?ve been going to him for seven years and he is my first appointment when I visit LA. He has outlasted my jobs, friends, boyfriends and the subprime burst. Vasquez is an anomaly! This is the second time I've gotten my haircut here, and this time around my hair was taken care of by the very talented Ashley. When I walked in, my hair was dry and in need of trimming. Ashley gave me a warm welcome, sat me down to talk about what I wanted to do to my hair and gave me suggestions. In the end, she cut and styled my hair into something I was extremely happy with. Ashley herself has gorgeous hair, and so it really was no surprise that she was able to make my hair just as gorgeous. Thank you, Ashley! more

I moved to LA about 11 years ago and was not able to find anyone to color, highlight, or cut my hair as beautifully as, Richard Vasquez, at XS Salon and Spa. He has been my hair stylist for the past 6 months and I have never been disappointed! He takes plenty of notes and pictures of all his clients so that he knows exactly what to do each time.
