World Gym

paying about $15 a month if you sign up for a year, great snack bar, plenty of next door free parking,massage therapist,not crowded like the other gym in town,one room for free weights,one for machines ,one for cycling,stair master,etc and another for classes,locker room w/sauna. What else do you need especially at $3.75 a week! Pros: low cost,lots of different classes like yoga, kick boxing Cons: no pool more

yes! the same thing happened to me! on the contract it says, ""Membership Start Date"" and ""Membership Expiration Date"".....which mean nothing! I called the gym and asked what i had to do to cancel. The guy on the phone told me, ""Nothing. When the expiration date is up, that's when your credit card stops getting charged."" Well, two months after the expiration date and my card is still getting charged i called....they sent me to ""Corporate"" (Mariah, presumably the same one from the story above) who told me i had to mail in a request to cancel membership BEFORE the expiration date. I asked her what the expiration date meant then. to the rest of the world it means THE EXPIRATION DATE!!!! not to world gym. Mariah told me that there would be no way of the guy on the phone knowing what my contract said. Even though I signed the contract at the gym! Do they not keep records of customers contracts there? How in the world could he NOT know? Or if he didnt know, why didn't he transfer me to someone who did know? He talked as though he handles the same question on a regular, daily basis. This contract makes sense only to someone writing a contract meaning to rip people off. I've had better experience with Columbia House when I was fifteen years old. honest to god COLUMBIA HOUSE!!! the place stinks, they never clean anything, i actually stopped going about six months into my membership because the place is appaling. Regardless of my bad experience with the financial end of it, i would still give it a terrible review. it really is dirty. Run fast and run far!!! more

World Gym in Glendale is large, spacious, and has differing types of equipment. Though the manager was busy on the Sunday afternoon when I dropped by, I joined the gym anyway even without taking the obligatory tour.\r \r The $29 monthly fee did not include a $125 enrollment fee and I applicants must use either a check card of credit card to become a member. \r \r The free weight and stationary machine areas are a mess with equipment left strewn around the floors and on machines where they were last used. This by the way, is the state of things at World Gym, Glendale at almost any time of the day.\r \r 7/26/08 would have been 1 year since I joined the gym. Since new members MUST remains members for at least 1 year, I called in early July to ask how I could cancel my membership. I was told to call back a few days before 7/26/08. \r \r On 7/21/08 I called again & was told I had to speak to Mariah, but was transferred to her voice mail where I left a message asking that she return my call. \r \r 7/22/08 I called again and this time was able to speak to Mariah. She said I had to write a letter stating I wasnted to cancel though she is the person who processes cancellations. She said I also had to pay a $35 cancellation fee & return the membership card issued to me by the gym. I did all of this. \r \r On 7/29/08 I discovered they again charged my account. I called Mariah who said there was nothing she could do. I then placed a stop payment on the $35 check. 2 months later I received a notice showing my membership had been reinstated by Mariah and charging me 2 months of membership, a late fee, and a $10.00 processing fee. I have now reported Mariah and World Gym in Glendale, CA to the office of the Attorney General of California. \r \r Do your research before joing a gym & DON'T JOIN WORLD GYM in Glendale, CA! Pros: Spacious and they offer classes Cons: Messy, lazy, & apathetic managers/staff. Mariah, of course is unethical. more
