The unfriendliest store in town! 10/25/2011

This place has a decent selection of dog food and treats but the people who run it are extremely rude. I recently was sent a voucher for a case of dog food by a top dog food company and Woofy refused to accept it. They claimed that the company doesn't reimburse them. What a lie. Perhaps if I was Asian I would have received better service. Stay away from this place unless it's an emergency. more

ive been everywhere and this place is great...! 8/2/2011

i've had my dog snappy for about 3 years now and i've been somewhat searching for a pet store with good grooming and good supplies, ive been everywhere in the city and northern nj and i have to say this place is by far the best...the haircut on my dog was awesome, ive never had him look so good, smelling good and so white (hes a maltipoo by the way), the price i paid was about 53 and ive paid alot more before thinking the more expensive it is the better service it is and thats what i thought all the time but after going to this place i feel like the grooming here is worth more than what ive paid elsewhere which are some crazy prices...their selection of food was great too, they carried my dogs food and now im happy....anyway i like it here alot, i think you have to try this place out too more

dr.kim very good! 7/2/2011

COMPLETELY RECOMMEND GROOMING AT WOOFYPET! 6/28/2011

It literally took me about year to find a perfect dog grooming store for my little dog who's a mixture of maltese and poodle. After exactly 2 months, my dog becomes a complete marshmallow. I'm very picky, and hard to please when it comes to my dog's hair cuts. I hate it when groomers turn my dog into a pink rat, because they cut her hair tooo short. But, as I was going by river road I passed by Woofy Pet and gave them a shot. When I came back to pick up my dog, she looked absolutely adorable!!!!! She wasn't pink, she didn't lose allll her hair and looked so cute! They even placed two polka dotted bows in her ears! And lately when I take my dog for a walk, she's always complimented by her cuteness! more

Do NOT take your dog here for grooming! 3/20/2011

I gave Woofy Pet far too many chances. I took my dog here several times for grooming and every time I picked him up something was wrong. They shaved his ears one time and he's a Bichon! Shaved his tail another. Lost his collar with all of his tags another. I kept going back because it was convenient and I didn't know where else to take him. The final straw was when I brought him home and noticed one of his eyes was swollen. It looked like they nicked the corner and it had been bleeding. That was it! \r \r I went online and read great reviews about Edgewater Pets, which is only blocks away at 1064 River Rd. My dog was always a trembling mess when I took him to groomers but he was calm and comfortable with the owner, and looked better than I've ever seen him look after grooming. Go to Edgewater Pets! 5 Stars!\r \r more

I can definately recommend that it's worth trying out! 3/14/2011

So it was my first time going to woofy pet and the employees were friendly and helpful when i was choosing dog food out of a good selection. The employees not only just showed me what to buy but also gave me tips on how to keep my dog happy and healthy. Also, i took my dog back for grooming and it came out great (poodle cut)! I can definately recommend that it's worth trying out! more

Worst pet grooming store 5/27/2010

I have not been back to this place in about 2 years. I used to bring my dog there for grooming. I don't believe that their groomers are even licensed to groom dogs. I was called in b/c they said that my dog was biting them while he was being groomed. So, of course I went down there quickly and what I saw really got me angry. The ""groomer"" was yanking on my dogs beard so hard that he had red irritated skin on his chin. He was even yelping in pain. He was obviously in a lot of pain from what was being done to him so of course he was trying to defend himself. Needless to say I quickly grabbed him and got the hell out of there. Their other dogs that are for sale do not look healthy either. I would never go to this place ever again. I am surprised to see that they are still in business. Pros: there are no pros to this place Cons: abusive to animals, not clean, more

GREAT CAT FOOD SELECTION 5/23/2010

I'm sort of surprised by all of the negative feedback here. although I don't have a dog so I don't know what the deal is with their grooming services. I go there to buy cat food and they have a great great selection and very reasonable/fair prices. I mean holistic/high end cat food is expensive anyway but their prices are definitely reasonable and on par or cheaper than what I used to pay in manhattan. The staff always seemed neutral and/or pleasant. I've never had a problem. Pros: good food selection more

NEVER GO TO WOOFY PET 4/22/2010

We took our dogs there for grooming, and had just told them that the place we go to in West New York was $40/cut so we were just trying to get a disc since we have 2 dogs... They charge $57. Anyway, the guy in the store called West New York ""ghetto"" and ""poor people's neighborhood""... I cannot believe this... Poor people? Where? Along River Road, I only see luxurious water-front homes... I hope this place shuts down... They have the worst customer service, and people who just give you attitude... They should not look down at others, and speak to elders in such a disrespectful way... I HATE THIS PLACE. GO TO PI PAWS at Port Imperial next to the ferry... More Reasonable and they actually love the dogs... Pros: Nothing Cons: Terrible customer service, rude rude sales people more

Worst pet store ever 2/17/2010

Don't ever go there. I asked them where they get puppies from and they say some are from korea. After asking how old they were, i realized they were too young to be flying. They obviously don't care that they put puppies in distress. And i recently was there for the vet but he was so uninterested in my sick dog and was so quick about the visit. He saw him for a minute! The vet doesn't genuinely care. Will never go back again. more

could be a good grooming place 2/4/2010

I've been to woofy pet many times over several years now. When I first used to go the groomers did a very nice, clean job and the workers were quite friendly too. And their prices weren't as high as they are now- i have a small dog, like a size of a regular Maltese and they'd charge me around ~47. however, as I kept going there the prices gradually got higher and higher, so now I would pay around 57 or more... which I think is seriously a bit much for a small dog. I take my dog to get him shaved, which the groomer does not seem to know how to do.. because she keeps trimming him, and when I asked to have his hair a little shorter they honestly give a bad attitude. I mean really, I wouldn't complain if I didn't tell the groomer what I specifically wanted before they did the job. We're the paying customers... so I really don't see why they have to have a bad attitude about it. and also, a groomer there has bled my dog several times by shaving between his ear and eye way too much, where he doesn't even need it. And of course they make these same kind of mistakes again and again. some have good experiences and some don't. I have had great experiences and bad ones too. But Woofy pet really needs to wake up and get better with their services (by that I mean friendlier customer services at the front desk too), reconsider their prices (considering the service they offer), and learn to not be arrogant or prideful to customers if they don't want to lose more customers.. and just one more thing to people who say their products are too expensive or not, some of their stuff (like collars, leashes, toys, etc.. and FOOD) are sold in places like petsmart, petco, target, wholefoods and you can buy them cheaper and even more with coupons.. really. Seriously. unless you'd rather buy it from woofy pet.. and some of their dog beds, houses, clothes are I believe from Korea, bc i buy the some of the same brands from korea, which is probably why Woofy pet sells it for soo much more. anyway hope it helps. Pros: some groomers are skilled Cons: difficult parking, price is a bit high, poor customer servic more

Awesome store 1/6/2010

Very helpful staff, unique store full of everything the true pet lover could ever want. Organic products, beautiful breeds for sale. You can tell the staff are all animal lovers. more

worst place for grooming! 12/23/2009

my dog was there last weekend for grooming and came back with three stitches on her leg!!!\r \r it was unacceptable so I wanted to talk to the owner on the phone but the staff was so unprofessional and start aruging with me.\r \r the way they handle the situation is so unprofessional and on top of that, they don't even do their job right.\r \r don't go there.\r too expensive, unfriendly staff and unprofessional.\r Pros: worst place for grooming Cons: don't go there more

Nice Store 11/22/2009

I've been going to Woofy Pet for a while, and have had nothing but good experiences. I bring my dog and cat in for regular grooming and left my dog for boarding as well. I like the range of supplies that they carry..natural foods, treats, and harder to find items. Some of the people seem to find the products to be more expensive than other places, but I'd rather pay a dollar more than driving to a place that's 30 mins away. Pros: Great selection Cons: Parking more

Great location, mediocre service with a bad attitude 10/4/2009

I have been taking my aunt's dogs there for some months for grooming. And they seem to do a fairly good job of it. The price to groom a little dog is the same as a much larger one, which makes little sense. Recently I brought her Yorkie there to get groomed and they accidentally cut off a section of her declaw, not simply a small cut, but they severed a portion of it! I had already paid in advanced and they offered me no refund of any kind. Suffice it to say I will never go there again, they are lucky they are Korean because the owner would have sued them otherwise. They did offer for me to see their Vet the next morning, but this was nothing more than an exercise in futility as the Vet hardly seemed to care. Some of the staff are friendly, others just sit there with a sour face as if they are doing you a favor. I have never seen a business where you are literally held in contempt as a customer. I can only imagine how other's are treated... Pros: location, clean store, many options, selection Cons: pricing, no parking, staff seems rather indifferent more

Not even decent 7/12/2009

i took my dog there for grooming, i told them to ""trim"" my dog and when i came back my dog was shaved! but I let it go & hold no grudges, My second visit, i specifically told them what i wanted..yet again i didn't what i wished for. 3rd visit , i wanted to buy a puppy but the prices were outrageous! $2000 for a 6 month old yorkie! with no insurance or a mico chip. i told the owner it was a little out of my budget & she just brushed me off & didnt even say goodbye when i left. So i went to ""The pet Company"" and got a 4 month old yorkie for $1200 with mico chip plus 5 year warranty, if you dont mind bad service then this is the place for you! people aren't very nice nor do they smile. Pros: Store is clean Cons: Impossible parking, way over priced. more

Nice Shop 6/7/2009

I've been to the shop many times, and yea, it's sad to see the puppies in the cages, but they DO let them out in the front area to play with the other puppies. So I do think they care about the animals, if not, they WOULD be in the cages All day. Besides that, they have A LOT of great stuff! Toys, clothes, food, etc. The store is always clean as well. The only annoyance is parking... Pros: Nice selection Cons: Parking more

great pet store for grooming / boarding / supplies 5/29/2009

woofy pet has been around for a long time and there is a reason why. they have a huge selection of supplies / food. their grooming is one of the best in the area and their boarding area is great. their staff is friendly and helpful as well. never had a complaint after going to them for many years! btw - the bad reviewers have no idea what they are talking about. they do speak English and their dogs come from reputable breeders! Pros: they have EVERYTHING, very clean, helpful staff Cons: parking is a pain more

A puppy mill..... 11/15/2008

I was at Woofy Pet recently. I went to the back to look at the puppies that they sell there. Obviously everyone knows these puppies come from puppy mills. These poor dogs were stuck in cages. Some were 6 months old, 4 months old etc. They were much too old for the prices that the owners are looking for. You can easily find breeders in nj classifieds that have these puppies at 8 weeks old for half the price that this store sells their puppies for. I felt terrible for these poor little things that are confined in those cages. If they really cared about animals, they would let those puppies go to good homes at a decent cost. I wish someone would look into their puppy selling practice.\r \r Aside from that major issue, they do carry alot of items for dogs, and have a good variety of supplies.\r \r There is almost no parking and it took me about 20 minutes of driving around before I actually walked in the store. Pros: Clean store, carries alot of items for dogs and some hard to find stuff. Cons: No parking, selling puppies that stay in cages all day. more
