First , let me say I have eaten at Woody's for more than 10 years - never again. Last night as I walked in to Woody?s I just happened to look at my watch. It was a 5:15. I was seated and my order was taken immediately. I ate my salad and waited and waited. At 5:45 I waved my waiter down and asked if it would be much longer. I said ?I?ve been waiting 30 minutes.? He shouted ?You haven?t been here 30 minutes.? I started to speak and he again shouted at me ?You haven?t been here 30 minutes? and turned and left. The people at the table in front on me turned around and looked horrified that a customer would be spoken to in that manner. I said to them ?I guess I don?t have to eat here? and got up. I found the manager and told him. He said he would ?take care of it?. Then the waiter came up and said that I had been waiting for 30 minutes but it would be another 5 or 10 minutes. We were just passing through North East on our way to Williamsburg, the hotel clerk told us about Woody's. Boy, were we impressed! The food was the best I have ever had! It's a neat place, too, they use paper tablecloths, something I've never seen before. Well worth the wait, as they keep busy. more

If you had to pick a business that really anchored North East, it would be Woodys Crab House. To tourists in town, it is a destination. My family from Canada have all been to Woodys when visiting. I love to go there for a special occasion. The crab-stuffed rockfish is superb, as are the crabcakes, and the fried oyster ceasar. Yes, I have sampled the menu liberally. Casual is definitely in and I do love to be comfortable. If you go on a weekend, be prepared to take a pager and enjoy shopping in the town while you wait for a table. I have been to Woody's on several occasions, and have yet to have a negative experience. The parking is slightly difficult and on a weekend night the wait can be over an hour, but it is well worth the wait. To make up for the wait the buzzer that calls you for your table has a range of up to a mile, and there are a lot of quaint shops along the main street to visit while you wait. Once seated the wait staff is attentive and friendly and the food is wonderful. I have tried the bisque, the crab dip, the steak, crabcake and fried shrimp and have not been disappointed yet. Their prices are reasonable, and the bartender knows how to mix a drink. I highly recommend giving Woody's a try. Indoor seating is fun and the Tiki Bar in the back has live entertainment on weekends and quick attentive service. The price on steamed crabs is great too. more

I tried 4 "Crab Shacks" on a trip East last week, and on the last day found this gem. 4 of us all had something different and none were dissapointed. Everything you want in a local crab house. Fresh local seafood, baked, broiled or fried. Great home brew, peanuts while you wait, great patio on a small seaport town main street. At the top of Cheasapeak Bay, home of the blue crab.... if you get close, do this spot. Pros: local fresh crab, nice little town, ice cream shop connected next door Cons: probably a line in the "on" season. more

This is an excellent place to get fresh seafood. The crab bisque is to die for. Plenty of specials to choose from. Bar and indoor and outdoor seating available. more
