1st, this is not a complaint, only a sad reminder of what once was, that is no longer. I am the least knowledgeable person when it comes to needing to repair, upgrade etc., which is why I was lucky to find Smalls when I bought my house 15 yrs., ago. They could read between the lines when I tried to explain what I needed, they taught me how to attain what I needed to & they never let me overspend on what I didn't need. They even knew what do-dads were & what color they came in. Today the sign says True Value & the faces are unfamiliar. When trying to fix a leaking tub faucet, I went by what YouTube said I needed but, nobody knew what I was talking about - neither did I. When showing a picture on my phone, I was told,'I can't tell what that is.' Had never heard those words before. The experience is gone as is the guessing game they were so good at playing. Went to HD & luckily a guy working there was familiar with the age of the faucet & sold me what I needed & the tool. After 15 yrs., I can say that I miss that neighborhood hardware store, Smalls, that made mentored me in home repairs. That made me feel accomplished.
