Women's World

Beware of signing a contract with these people. A good rule would be to never ever sign a contract with them and also and especially never, never give them access to your bank account. The contract is a rolling contract and their rules make it difficult to cancel it. You have a window of time in which to cancel and you have to send a certified letter. No fax, no regular mail. If you don't get it just right you will be sucked into another year of payments. My daughter, inexperienced and young, signed up. After almost two years she went to the gym and asked to see her contract and the person at the counter asked her why. Sounds to me like they may have something to hide although I couldn't say for sure. Yes, a lot of this is my daughters fault and now she has learned a valuable lesson. She is now in the process of trying to cancel the membership. I will write another review as this involved process goes along. It shouldn't be this difficult. A business that provides a service should be able to keep customers by giving them a great product. If they have to resort to trickery then maybe their product is not so good. I just think that people should be aware of what they are getting into. Especially young people who haven't had these kinds of experiences and are perhaps too trusting. more

I cannot rate this business - Womens World of Tallahassee - because there are no negative stars to choose. Well to post I must give a rating so under protest I will give it a generous 1 star. Once, I was in the building and did not find it to be a pleasant atmosphere. Bleak comes to mind. I did not join but my daughter did and now it is a real problem to cancel. She paid her year's worth and sent in the cancellation form via certified mail. Not only do you have to send it certified but you have a certain time period to do it and if you don't it goes for another year and then again you have a time period where your can cancel it (shorter this second time around) and it will go on for another year if you don't meet their time requirements. And the cycle of life goes on. I agree that reading the contact is important and maybe my daughter would not have this problem if she had read it more closely. I haven't see the contract so I don't really know what it says. Then again, she asked if the membership could be cancelled and was told it could. Of course she was not told how hard it would be and that there were time limits. I think that this company uses bad business practices. They cannot keep customers the normal way. I dislike them very much and want people to be aware or really beware. It seems to be a tricky contract. Hmm. They call it Womens World. Do they think women should be treated like this? more

I can't speak to the billing issues (I paid up front via check) but the gym itself is FINE. Clean, nice equipment, friendly and helpful staff. They have a great selection of classes and their kids zone is fantastic. They made it clear up front that I was signing a contract with them, and unless I moved or had health issues that prevented me from working out, I'd be expected to honor that. Had 3 days to back out if I changed my mind. I just renewed for another year...That should tell you I'm happy! more

This gym is a total SCAM! Once they get your bank account number you are screwed, they will continue to debit your account even after you cancel your membership and pay the fine. AWFUL business practices and management, complete scumbags. DO NOT go to this gym, or Golds Gym (brother gym- handles billing) . Also the Better Business Bureau gives both an F and so do I! more

I just don't care for this gym. The good classes that they offer aren't at good times. The babysitting area is filled with novices that don't really pay attention to the children that are in there. The "sauna" is a hot tub stuck in the floor. Half the machines were not working when we would go. Then I moved 40 miles away (still working in Tallahassee) but didn't feel like driving all that distance after a workout and they wouldn't let me cancel my membership...I just didn't really have a good experience there. more

I joined Women's World a few years ago with a friend who wanted to start going to yoga and pilates. At first I was worried about going to an all-women's gym, but I like it because REAL women go there. You don't have to worry about looking cute or being thin enough to go to the gym (ironic, isn't it?). Instead, the women who work out there are a real inspiration to us all. Check it out! more
