I am not the type of person/customer to go out of my way to write a review or complain about something that happens at a place of business. However, what happened to me in this store just completely shocked me yesterday. I have been going here for the last year for my dry cleaning needs. I have never been overly impressed with the customer service or quality...but I have not been upset with anything either. They are usually very good about getting your dry cleaning back in a very timely manner with high quality. I can only think of one time when they told me my clothes would be ready on a Friday morning, and they weren't available to Friday evening. No big deal. I am reasonable. That sort of thing happens.
The situation that happened to me here this week was not something I could just over look. I had brought in two pairs of pants on May 3rd at 6:45am. I have the receipt right in front of me. That was a Tuesday. I was told they would be ready Friday morning. That seemed a little long to me for two pairs of pants, but I thought nothing of it. I didn't need them until next week anyway. The weekend came and went and I had not picked up my cleaning. Monday morning came (6 days after I had dropped off my pants) and I thought that I would go to the gym in the morning, and pick up my nice dry cleaning to put on when I got to work. That seemed like a very reasonable plan to me as it had been 6 days since I had dropped off my cleaning. Much to my dismay, when I got there at 7:00am Monday the 9th, I was told my clothes were not there. This put me in a very tough situation. I was counting on my pants to be done to wear to work and I had no pants with me! For two pairs of pants to not be done after 6 days is unreasonable. I think any person who takes dry cleaning in regularly will tell you the same. I was mad. But I kept my calm and told the woman working that I was not going to pay for them when they turned up. I was told they would be ready Friday morning. She understood and said she wouldn't either and that I should talk to the owner after 12pm. I had to go to Old Navy to buy a quick pair of work pants that day before work, so I was out 30 bucks already.
I returned to the store at 6pm on Monday. My pants were finally in. I was greeted by a woman and I asked to speak to the owner because I felt I shouldn't have to pay for the cleaning. She told the owner, ""Joe"" and his reaction was something I have never seen an owner of a business do. instead of apologizing or trying to figure out what went wrong...he literally threw the pants at me, told me I didn't have to pay but to get out of his store and never come back again. He yelled a profanity at me. When I tried reasoning with Joe, he told me to ""Get the F out of his store before Ihe calls the cops"". I was stunned. I asked him if it was unreasonable that I request this be for free since they were not done by Friday and were not even in this morning. He didn't even look at the receipt and told me I was unreasonable and that it didn't take 6 days......
But ...it did. The man just refused to listen to anything I said and rather then try to figure something out..work a deal..he again threatened me and told me to get out of his store. All this over a 10 dollar dry cleaning bill.
I was stunned and shaken for the rest of the night. I could not believe a business owner would treat a customer this way. His immediate reaction was anger and verbal abuse rather than doing what 99 percent of business owners would do....try to figure out what took so long, try to offer an explanation, appolgize, and offer something at a discount. It's not like I went in with guns blaring. I was very calm when I said I don't think I should have to pay for this.
