This place reminds me of something a restaurant wannabe would open. After reading their claim that the restaurant put together a world class team we decided to try it. What a mist...

Another Amazing Downtown Hot Spot 12/23/2006

This place is so new that they havn't built up a huge clientelle yet, but last night me and a group of my friends decided to go check it out. It is really beautifully done! The bar and lounge area is hip but classy--there is a large outdoor patio area that divided the lounge/bar with the actual restaurant. The bar/lounge has 2 indoor areas on the first floor that were really cool and then upstairs there is a loft area that overlooks it all. Upstairs was a pool table in one room and a cushy lounge area next to it. \r \r I am totally reccomending this place to everyone I know! No annoying 21 years olds, no velvet rope, good music without thumping speakers--good food and drinks! Pros: good music, awesome atmosphere, good mid 20s to mid 30s crowd, free valet Cons: this place will soon become a hotspot so go before it gets super crowded! more

The Best New Place to Eat and Socialize near Downtown!! 12/18/2006

""Wow"" this place really surprise me at how well it looked! I live in Downtown L.A. and I usally go to the Palms, Water Grill and Providence but this place stood out from them. The Location was very unique on Wilshire and Rampart between two parks; which at night look very tranquil. I first was taken back by all of the space that this new Restaurant and Lounge has; the lounge was 2 levels and very artsy; their huge covered patio has lounge seating and the Grand Ballroom where the fine dining occurs has these soaring white columns that transend time. I had the Original Royale Burger that came with Black tuffles and Foie Gras (trust me you can't beat the price for what you get)!\r \r I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves the art of food; which has been totally captured at this spot! Even though you might be blown away by the ambiance...THE FOOD IS BETTER! I still remember how the food tasted and in the long run that's what matters most. Pros: Super nice Ambiance and the Great Food!!! Cons: none at all!! more

Total New York Elegance and Service!!! 12/17/2006

This place was recommended by a friend who had been there for a private event. It was a Saturday night and we were going to The Standard downtown rooftop bar, so we decided to stop by. Turns out, this was like their unofficial quiet opening night or whatever. When we first got there we were happy to see they had valet parking. But when we got inside we were blown away. If you go there for any reason, go there to see what they have done with it. I have never seen a place like this in LA where the place looks like an actual piece of art. First there's the lounge in the fromt which has an amazing bar and two lounge areas. Then we were led through the patio which has lounge seating and tables outside. Then, we were led into the most amazing dining room. Being from New York, we were pleased to see the dining room was classical and well staffed. It is like being locked into another time period, with formal style and elegance being brought to a room of modrn urban professionals and foodies. I felt right at home.\r \r The wine list was very well balanced. We started with a bottle of Chardonnay. Jonathan, our waiter, was serious but friendly. We shared the mac n cheese and tuna tartare. It was amazing. I definitely enjoyed the New York steak and others in my party who had the filet, john dory, and short rib talked about it all night. \r \r After dinner we went back up to the lounge to see that it had become pretty active. This was a New York experience if I ever saw one. No one took themselves too seriously but here they seem to take food and service very seriously. Definitely a promising change! Pros: Design, Service, and amazing food, and Valet was free! more
