Ok, so this Japanese Enzyme Bath thing is amazing. You step into a large vat of what appears to be wood chippings (NOT water -- don't let the ""bath"" part fool you). The techician adds some enzymes to the mixture so that it begins to heat and heat and heat. (high school chemistry pop quiz: it's an ""exothermic"" reaction?)....and then covers you up to your neck (you're wearing an old swimsuit, one that might end up with some red stains on it). Every few minutes, they will come back and give you ice-water to sip on through a straw; they will also pat down your face with a cool towel. Meanwhile, they leave you there to MARINATE in an INTENSE heat...honestly, sometimes uncomfortably hot (don't move around -- moving just mixes the enzymes together more and makes things hotter). After you get out, the technician will give you a large brush to get the shavings off....you then shower away the rest (note: the shavings get EVERYWHERE).
Pros: absolute physical relaxation. We hung out in the courtyard for a while, and they never rushed us to leave.
Cons: parking?
