M was a complete disappointment. From the service, to the settings, straight down to the food, M was disappointing across the spectrum.
When I entered, the hostess refused to look up from her screen and instead continued to type. I awkwardly waited for minutes, trying to make eye contact with her or with another member of the wait staff. I was finally greeted by another server, who picked up on my frustrations.
Once seated, my server rushed through the specials, which continued to be a theme throughout the night. My server would either be rushed while he was present, or nowhere to be seen. My date saw a Sam Adams at another table and he asked the server what kind of beers they served. Our server chuckled at him, then jeered ""we do not have any beers on tap."" Embarrassed, that was not what my date was asking.
I was seated with a view straight into the wait staff's kitchen exit. My date faced an ugly glass exit. The bathroom to M (out in the lobby) is shared by an proximal gallery. It looks exactly like a girl's high school bathroom.
My date and I ordered one thing from every section of the menu. I would like to say I was very impressed with the drinks, but that was all. The sushi and cocktail shrimp were nothing extraordinary. My date ordered the Kansas City strip steak medium rare and it came out raw. ( I am not exaggerating). I ordered the Chilean Sea Bas, whose taste was like that of dull catfish. We also tried the lobster mashed potatoes. These were the consistency of reconstituted freeze-dry flake potatoes with masses amounts of butter and overcooked lobster in them.
The manager stopped by our table and asked how everything was. I said ""It's good..."" and he haltingly walked off before I could finish.
When I was recommended M by a friend; M was embedded in a list of other restaurant choices. I am highly disappointed with the choice I made. I will not be returning nor will I be recommending M to anyone I know.
Cons: bad staff, poor quality food, terrible manners. you name it.
