The Portland Area's Top Fun Course 7/14/2011

When you ask people about Wildwood, the immediate response is almost always a big grin. ""What a fun course! "" seems to be the typical response. The only way Wildwood might be more fun would be if they added a windmill to one of the greens and you had to putt into a clown's mouth at the end. When you get to 15 you start the ""funnest"" four finishing holes in the area, especially double-dogleg 16. Lots of risk/reward opportunities here. Unlike some courses, each year management seems to invest more in course improvements. Spectacular views abound. Plenty of water provides ample challenges for a course with not many bunkers. more

Best Greens in Portland 10/17/2009

Wildwood has the best kept and fastest greens in the Portland area. I've golfed my fair share of courses, but nothing compares to the great value that Wildwood is providing. Golfing there in October, you never know what you conditions you will experience, but I left more that satisfied. Sign up for a Frequent Player's Card (which is free), and you can golf 18 holes for $25 with a cart...AMAZING! Since the course is extremely hilly, it is also a great exercise when you walk. Pros: Well kept, fast greens, friendly staff, great value more

Wildwood is a great golf course. 10/27/2008

I played Wildwood this week end in a tournament that my friend signed me up for. The greens were great I think they are the best I have played on in a long time. Had a good time and recommend it to anyone who enjoys golf and appreciates a great value. Pros: greens are great more

2008 Not the great course it was back in 2005 !!! Marshal is an ego power trip freak! 8/8/2008

So we used to play here all the time back in 2003-2005. It ""was"" great! Well in August of 2008 it was a different story! First, second, and third hole, lawn blower wouldn't leave our fairway! Mowers all around. Delayed us at least 5 minutes each hole. Then the ""marshal"" came and told us to play quicker, though the delay wasn't our doing. Believe me... we play the pace! We're often the ones waiting. Then Mr. Marshal just hovered every stroke like he was some kind of cop. Seriously?! Can you say golf in peace?! Let's not forget the people behind us were cheating to keep pace. Huge altercation on hole 5. Says we can't let players play through! Pulling a big ego trip for a guy who makes $10 bucks an hour. We know what that's all about! People always play through here. What course doesn't allow that? B.S. !! So much for a peaceful day of golf with your friends! Got our money back, left. Nice course, but the marshal and his buddies are ego freaks and the definition of real chumps! We will never go there again nor would we recommend it to anyone else unless you like being hassled on every stroke. Pros: Nice course Cons: Too much noise, lawn blowers and 'marshal' have no decency or consideration for players! more

Great Value. Fun course. 2/25/2007

Dollar for dollar the best experience in town. Green fees very reasonable. The course is hilly with creeks running all over it and tee boxes can be off the top of a hill or the bottom. It is always in good shape ( I?m a warm weather golfer) and has many risk/reward shots. 10 is driveable just cut it over the hill almost everything drops down. 16 looks easy short par 5 but the green is hard to hold if you go for it in two and missing the green can be a double boggy. Pros: Price. Hills. Cons: Can be slow. more

Worth the drive! 3/13/2003

I drive from Beaverton to Wildwood because it is one of my favorite public coures in the Portland Metro area. The front nine is very imaginative, and the back nine is the most difficult of the two. My favorite hole is likely number 6 on the front nine with its triple teared tee off boxes. Number one is possible the most difficult hole as it is a legitimate par 5. Your never quite warmed up enough for this hole! Nestled between the mountains and hills, Wildwood is a true scenic course. The last time we played their they charged us 18.00 a person for 18 holes with two carts. If that isn't value then I don't know what is! Pros: Scenic, Challenging enough, Inexpensive Cons: A bit of a drive more

The US30 Wonder. 9/9/2002

Great Hill course, requires course management to shoot a good round due to all the creeks. Has become an outstanding asset to the golfing community here in the Portland Metro. Pros: inexpensive, less crowded, enjoyable to play Cons: commute more

Endless Summer 9/6/2002

Here's hoping the summer never ends and the rains don't come. Golfing out here right now is perfect. The greens are firm and there is a fair amount of roll on the fairways. Played in less then four hours today and had a great time. Will be back the rest of the year as long as summer never ends. more

Plenty of exercise 8/14/2002

This is a challenging but not too difficult course. There is a wide varity of holes and if you walk the course be prepared for some exercise. Pros: Inexpensive, not too crowded, Great staff Cons: driving range irons more

Sweeeeeeeet 8/6/2002

A lot of times you really do get what you pay for! Wildwood is probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced any where. I thought one time was just bad timing, but after 2 more rounds of golf, it was quite clear that this course does not understand the concept of customer service. I don't care if this course was $5 per round, I wouldn't play it again. I strongly do not reccomend playing here, unless you don't might crappy service. There is a reason that this place is so cheap!! more

Best Deal in Town! 6/27/2002

This is a great course. Mature landscaping, good drainage, and nestled into the base of the hills giving it great views and rolling holes. It's just far enough out that they can handle last minute tee times too. Pros: location, hills more

An old-fashioned golf course, there are lots of trees on the front nine, though not necessarily in play. Right now there is only one bunker (on number 5), but immediate plans...
