Austin's Perfect Date Spot 4/9/2011

Wildfire I?m often asked where the perfect date spot is?I simply answer the Wildfire on the square in Georgetown. I suppose an explanation is in order since I live in Austin, and I?ll get a few looks for that answer, but being just a short drive north of downtown and 15 min north of the Domain it gives a unique opportunity to actually get to know the person you are out with. The menu is full of really well prepared Texas fare items like the Cajun Spiced Elgin Sausage & Crawfish Stuffed Chicken to the 16 oz Bone-in Cowboy Ribeye and some real American items like the Oak Fired Elk Tenderloin and the 12 oz American Bison Strip Loin. The food is the star of show but I would be remiss if I didn?t mention that I love the bar or ?Red? room and the class and charm of this hidden gem has only grown and deepened since first opening in 1997. Bill Cox, owner, is actually still involved in the day to day operations and you may mistake him for the host, server, manager or even busser from time to time, and his hands on approach has kept the food and service quality consistent throughout every economic climate. I want to add a special note that the Smoked Maple Leaf Duck Quesadillas may be my favorite appetizer in the entire Austin area (along with the crispy oysters from Jefferies). So enjoy ya?ll. FANTASTIC !!! 4/27/2009

My wife and I went on a Friday night and had a wonderful time. We had made a reservation over the phone and requested a table near the window and to our satisfaction was given the table for the time we had requested. It was the best table in the restaurant. Our server was very polite and knowledgeable. He made some very good recommendations for us and we basically ordered what he said was the best on the menu. I had a steak and my wife had their special for the weekend. We were both very pleased with the entire experience. The waitstaff was great, our drinks were never empty and the only thing we had to ask for was, ""Where the restrooms were?"" Pros: Amazing Food more

Overrated and overpriced 2/18/2009

Okay, I had been to Wildfire in the past and always left feeling like I got a good value for the price. Times have obviously changed!!! The last time I visited, I was very disappointed in pretty much everything this restaurant had to offer. The service was slow and sloppy, the food was lacking in taste and presentation, and somehow the overall experience was much, much less than I would expect at these prices. I feel bad for saying this, but this is among the worst restaurants I have frequented in the last three years. When I expressed my disappointment in my meal, the waitress was very flippant with me, as if I was expecting too mcuh. I will not be returning to Wildfire in the future, as there are several dozen comparable restaurants with better quality foot and atmosphere. more

Great food, no atmosphere 10/2/2008

The food at Wild Fire is great but there is a total lack of atmosphere. Not a place that I would go on a date or with a group. The bar side is significantly better than the dining room but still quite stale. more

Not Good 4/3/2008

I have heard from a few people that this was a great place to eat so we gave it shot. Went on a busy Saturday night so we had to wait..no big deal but when the food arrived we felt we had waisted our money and time. Maybe the kitchen was wore out and overwhelmed. Very loud that night so conversation was impossible. We just sat there and ate poorly cooked food and stared at eachother. We prefer not to send food back or complain since it could upset the staff leading to more problems. Heard they are starting another place in Sun City.....Humm Pros: Great Location, table set nicely Cons: Food and Noise more

cozy, good food 5/24/2007

I've been here several times and the food is always good. Staff is always very nice and make good recommendations every time. It's a neat old building in downtown Georgetown and has a very cozy feel. The manager seems to be around every time and always comes around to check on the tables and make sure everyone is happy. I've tried everything from the breakfast to the mexican food and fish plates and it's all very good. Pros: great food, staff, atmosphere more

What Happened? 4/25/2007

We've been to Wildfire a number of times. Being that we live in Round Rock, Georgetown is as easy to get to as Austin. The appitizers were creative and consistant, and I never had a bad steak there! Untill our LAST visit. The scallop appitizer which was so good before now consists of grilled scallops and bbq suace. I had the ribeye, It was pretty bad. When I informed the witress about this she sent the manager over and without a word took the steak and walked away, not asking if I wanted anything else. more

Great Food, & Family Fun 2/11/2007

I've been to Wildfire in Georgetown many times, as I live in Hutto, 11 miles away. My family and I go here mostly after church for mid-morning brunch. Located next to the historic Palace Theatre, it is fun to get some grub at Wildfire then run over and catch a silver-screen classic. But on to the resturant... more

Historic building, lovely atmosphere 9/7/2005

This place had a lovely ambiance and creative food, though somewhat overpriced. The server was pleasant but wasn't able to answer any of our questions about the entrees. The music was a bit loud and distracted from the overall intimate, charming atmosphere. All the food was extremely rich, though nicely prepared and tasty. Pros: Great ambiance, Creative menu Cons: Food too rich, Music too loud, clueless server more

Cozy on the Square 4/23/2003

I took the advice of a local business to try the Southwestern Caesar Chicken Salad. Yum! Wildfire is the nicest restaurant on the square, non-pretentious. Since it is a fine dining venue, the prices are higher, but the taste is fabulous. You should try it out. Pros: finer dining, menu choices, non-pretentious Cons: parking more
