I have a question for anyone that belongs to Wilderness Unlimted. How may members do they have ? How much does it cost ? Where is the property located in Caifornia ?

It was a dark damp morning, and upon arriving at Keeley I wasn’t sure as to what to\r expect. I was told by the reservation desk that I would be sharing blind #1 with a new\r member and his son, they were also first time hunters with Wu. more

Just wanted to thank you guys for putting together the women's duck hunt this weekend. It was very educational and memorable. And Bridget, I totally agree with you that the walk out to the blind was possibly the best part of the experience. Can you please pass on my thanks to Gene, Justin, Harold, Rick, and the rest of the Wilderness Unlimited crew for all their help? Also, thanks to my fellow hunters, Trish and Angela, for giving up their ducks. They were delicious. I roasted the gadwall and spoonie whole last night -- my husband said they tasted ""very ducky"" in a good way -- then made duck fried rice with the sprig breasts today. Too bad I gave those teal breasts to Justin's brother... more

I truly believe that the investment WU made with covering the blinds, will not only increase productivity, but will also make members very happy. I know for myself, I was very pleased to see the new additions. more

I would like to thank you and Susan for putting together the BOW hunt. It certainly was memorable. I appreciated what I was taught and the willingness of everyone involved to share their knowledge. Please pass my thanks on to my guide Harold and his dog Abe, they taught me a lot. I enjoyed seeing Abe retrieve the duck it was awesome to see him work. Please thank Justin for teaching us how to clean our ducks. I appreciate the chefs that cooked dinner for us, please thank them also. Thank everyone else that played a part in making this happen for us. more

Saturday morning, I woke early with anticipation. I had been asked earlier in the week by the WU staff if I could cover Keeley Club for the weekend. Having never patrolled Keeley, with excitement I said yes. more

As new members, our family just completed our first trip to one of the WU properties. We had an awesome experience, staying at Cummings Ranch for Christmas; it was beautiful and filled with excellent hiking and hunting trips. It snowed on the 26th and we enjoyed snow filled paths and views. We are already planning our next trip.....we are going to love being a member of WU. more

Hi fellow hunters and W.U. friends!\r \r I would like to share with you my most recent success story. This last minute hunt was motivated by Wilderness Unlimited winter pig season winding to a close in three days.\r \r I booked the three day hunt on Mosby ranch which consists of your typical open rolling hills with scattered oak trees, canyons chocked with sporadic manzanita bushes, chemise, and other vegetation making for the perfect hog ranch. With the recent rain and numerous water holes and small run off creeks located all over the ranch, sitting over water was out of the question. This was going to be a hike, glass, move, hike, glass, move type of hunt. A well broken in comfortable pair of boots was going to be the means of my search for the ever elusive wild hog.\r \r Day 1: I was up and out of camp by 6:00 a.m. heading towards an area that I have had good luck in the past. Trying to stay high on the ridge lines glassing down into the canyons and opposite hillsides the morning was moving right along with lots of hog tracks keeping me on high alert but no sightings. It was a little after 9:00 a.m. still filled with high hopes I continued my quest thinking everything was more than likely bedded so I would spend more time glassing brush areas.\r \r \r As I made my way towards the point of this ridgeline finger I notice it would give me a good 240 degree view of the canyon below that horseshoed around my vantage point and hillside across the way. With that thought still fresh in my head the sound of a snort froze me in my tracks, looking and listening trying to identify the location of the sound. I caught the movement of a black hog underneath a large patch of manzanita bushes directly ahead of me.\r \r I quickly drew yet quietly my Ruger .44 Blackhawk single action revolver and drew a bead on him. Within seconds it was all over. A 62 yard shot, broke both shoulders dropping him where he stood. A follow up shot to the back of the head claimed my trophy. The rest of the day was spent getting him out of the back country back to camp, scale weight, skinned, and quartered in to coolers. By 6:30 p.m. with the meat care task completed I broke camp and headed home. By 11:30 p.m. I was sending out pictures to all my friends and posting on Facebook.\r \r Scale weight 214 plus roughly 15 pounds of innards for a 229 pound wild Boar. :) :) Being a taxidermist I skinned him out for a full body mount looking forward to adding him to my ever growing collection of hard earned trophies. more

I want to formally thank you fo the manner in which you, especially Ron, handled the recent error in my 'stand-by' reservation. Every effort was made to do the right things..and you did. It speaks volumes for the classy oraganization that the Wilderness Unlimited represents. You can be sure that I will communicate your good will to as many members as I can. I know that all of us make mistakes... It's human nature. However, when one accepts responsibility and then goes to great strides to correct the error and/or make difficult/unpopular adjustments, he or they are extremely honorable. more

After everything calmed down, my hunting partner told me\r he was going to go take a look because he thought he heard\r the ""Thmp!"" sound that means impact and penetration. I was\r like ""whatever""....... I didn't hear anything except my .270 going off in my ear. Softer than usual, but it was ever present! more

I know for sure, that both my blind mates had as great a time as I did. In fact the entire club shot well, and several members commented how well there days were. more

Hunting merely for the kill misses the mark. Take a look around you, enjoy the outdoors and dig into the behavior of the animal you are hunting. It’s interesting. Not only that, it will help you in the pursuit, which to me, is half the fun! more

I put the pig in my sights, took a deep breath and tried to steady myrifle. It was on a bipod, but well, it was still in motion because the\r pig was, too. more
